Agriculture in the Classroom Saskatchewan’s (AITC-SK’s) Food Farm program is celebrating 10 years of getting students out of the classroom to experience the full cycle of farming. In the spring, students planted crops and worked through fun, engaging stations highlighting different aspects of agriculture. In the coming weeks, students will return to the farms and agri-businesses to harvest crops and visit new interactive stations to discover even more about where food comes from in Saskatchewan.
Food Farms are hosted in partnership with local farms and agri-businesses that engage many volunteers from the agriculture industry to facilitate hands-on learning stations. The first Food Farm was held in Yorkton in 2013, and 10 years later, the program is celebrating its milestone with 10 locations around the province. AITC-SK launched a Food Farm video to commemorate this achievement.
Media is invited to join AITC-SK, teachers, students, and volunteers on-site to experience the immersive agricultural learning of a Food Farm. Join us this fall as students harvest their crops and discover agriculture all around them.
Locations, dates, and directions are listed below. Food Farms run from 9:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.
