We are especially happy to welcome folks into our family of collaborators who have come to recognize the positive impact of our basic stove and solar work.

We recently introduced you to our initial work with the Global Uplift Project (TGUP)

We are now working towards a valuable, long-term collaboration that will benefit a growing number of Maasai people.

We've already launched the work on the ground. The Project’s veteran expert Maasai Women Stove Installers are in the process of bringing new trainees up to speed.

They’ll soon install 100 stoves and two micro-grids in the village Mti Moja.

One of the TGUP founding leaders is planning a tour of the group's East African projects, and will also visit the gamut of International Collaborative projects. This first-hand experience is important for nurturing the basis for long and productive relationships.

For several years we’ve worked with Humanity for Children, bringing solar powered electricity to clinics and their sewing center in Loibosiret, Simanjiro district.

Now, we are delighted to announce a generous grant from Humanity for Children, in cooperation with Rotary Clubs in Jefferson City, Missouri, USA.

This additional support means that ICSEE can bring home improving, life-saving stoves into many homes in the Simanjiro villages.

Once again, tourists are visiting the region’s famous wildlife areas, like the Serengeti National Park and the Ngorongoro Crater, in large numbers.

Our partner safari company, G-Adventures, is bringing many clients to meet Maasai women installing stoves along the tourist routes. G-Adventures covers the cost of the stoves and the stipends for the women.

There is an exciting development in our work with the Global Fund for Widows. (GFW) The nineteen groups of widows are thriving, organized in collaboration with GFW.

Each group of 25 women continues to master the two parts of this program. Every group has a collective cow fattening business, quite unique for women in the Maasai world.

In addition, the widows of each group share money in their collective bank. The bank lends money to members, who can then solve problems in their business or for their family with funds they would otherwise find impossible to gather.

The women here in Monduli and Longido districts are excited to plan a grand welcome for Marijke Kremin, a leading staff person at the GFW in New York. She is making an East African tour of widow’s groups. She’ll meet with the Maasai widows, at the end of September. She'll also visit with the outstanding ICSEE organizers and staff members.

The widows of Londido and those of the Rift Valley are in slightly different parts of their business cycles, and look forward to sharing their progress with Marijke.

They will treasure and enjoy having the opportunity to help the GFW leadership benefit from this first-hand experience of the realities of Maasai rural life.
