For our students, staff, and families, this time of year signifies more than just a break from school routines—it's a period to connect, rejuvenate, and appreciate the joy of belonging. Regardless of your family traditions, the winter holiday season is a reminder of the values that unite us all. Amidst the hustle and craziness of the season, it’s important to embrace family time, engaging in activities that bring everyone closer together and allowing us to enjoy each other's company.
As we bid farewell to 2023, let's take this time to recharge. It's an opportunity to step back, relax, and find comfort in the simple pleasures that surround us. Looking forward, the year 2024 holds promises of new opportunities, growth, and achievements for our educational community.
I also wanted to take a moment to thank two individuals who've been a huge part of our school community: Maribeth Wright and David Albrecht. Maribeth has served as a board of director for ten years, the last several as board president. David served our district on the board for the past eight years. As superintendent, I’ve been lucky to work with both for the past six months. I appreciate their hard work and dedication to the Norwalk Community School District. Being a board member isn’t always fun, some would say it's never fun, but over the years both Maribeth and David put the students of Norwalk first in their decision-making process.
To everyone who voted in the November elections: thank you! Your votes really matter when it comes to our schools. Thanks for caring and taking the time to make your voice heard. Wishing you all a safe, restful, and delightful holiday season and a wonderful start to the upcoming year.
Warm regards,
Shawn Holloway
Norwalk CSD Superintendent
