  • CALL TO WORSHIP

When we struggle to live as you teach us, and we fail to answer your call…

God, your steadfast love surrounds us.

When the truth clogs up in our throat, and we fear what will happen if we speak and if we keep silent…

God, your steadfast love surrounds us.

When we open our hearts and let the truth of our sorrows, our sin, our joys, and our doubts flow freely…

God, your steadfast love surrounds us.

When our stubborn hearts encounter the grace that teaches and guides us into a life of trust and joyful obedience…

God, your steadfast love surrounds us today and every day. Thanks be to God! Amen.

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE OF PARDON

God, we admit that we are prone to try to hide our sins; to keep our mouths shut and hope we are not found out. But there is no place to hide from you. Our silence only makes us sick in body and spirit. But you delight in forgiving us and in covering our sin. You are glad when we confess our failings and our needs. Hide us, O God, from trouble; teach us the way we should go. Deliver us from our own stubbornness, and draw us near, we pray. Amen.

Silence is kept

God rolls away everything that stands in our way - our past, our sin, our pain, our hesitation, and reshapes us into new people living in the new creation. What wonderful grace. We are forgiven!

Broken, we are made whole; lost, we are brought home; empty, we are filled with songs of gladness. We rejoice and give thanks to God who has graced us with mercy. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING

[sung responses (R) by Karen Marrolli]

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

R1 Holy, holy, holy one, God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest!

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord!

Hosanna in the highest!

R2 Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the kingdom, and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

R3 Amen, amen. Hosanna in the highest!

  • BENEDICTION

God sends us forth,

to be reconcilers of the broken and oppressed.

Jesus, our Brother, sends us to welcome everyone.

We will embrace the prodigals with joy,

we will make a feast for all of God’s people.

The Spirit sends us with arms full of healing.

We will go to bring hope to all we meet.
