ACCESSIBILITY ON YOUR MIND

Dear Karen,

The Pines Foundation’s Mobility Access Cart (MAC) program, is well established in the Pines, having been operating for over fifteen years.

Over 650 trips in 2023 were completed. Our volunteer drivers take great pride in helping those who have difficulty walking and, in many cases, cannot even be here without us. Residents and visitors of all ages are shuttled to the Care Center, often on short notice. Elderly family members, visitors, children, pregnant women, sick dogs as well as people and supplies for community and non-profit events are all transported. At times The MAC vehicles have even helped transport firemen, providing mutual aid from the mainland, during a major fire!

Annual maintenance on our three vehicles costs approximately $12,000, mostly due to the hostile salt-air environment. This year we plan to build a garage to shelter our three mobility carts, costing $35,000, to help extend their life.

A big thanks to SAGE (Services & Advocacy for LGBT Elders) for their on-going support. They, like you, help us continue to offer this essential service to our community.

We are grateful for your 100% tax deductible donations over the years and we are counting on your continued support. We look forward to another great year of driving for our community in 2024.
