Event App LIVE next Week
We’re so close to #UBCM22 and the grand unveiling of the Convention Event App. EventMobi, the platform selected to host the Convention Event App is making a return for 2022. With this platform so popular with our members the last time we met all together in 2019, we thought it only appropriate to bring back the familiar EventMobi experience.
The entire UBCM team is working diligently to prepare and plan every detail so that our Delegates enjoy an exceptional Convention experience in Whistler.
UBCM will not be printing a large-format Convention Program this year. Instead, a digital version of the same will be available in an easy-to-view flip book through the Event App. Everything you need to know about navigating convention on-site in Whistler is available in the UBCM Convention Event App.
To help UBCM Convention attendees onboard with the App, next week on Tuesday, September 6th an email with the subject line: 2022 UBCM Convention | Welcome to the Event App will arrive in your inbox from <no reply>ubcm2022@event-emails.com.
All delegates, speakers, sponsors and exhibitors, officially registered before August 31st, will receive this special email which explains and includes direct links to ‘download’ from the App Stores for Android and iOS, along with a personal self-edit link to help you complete your profile on the event app site.
While certainly not mandatory, updating your profile will ensure everyone has a great interactive experience, so please take a few moments and add a photo and a short bio to your profile.
We strongly recommend you access the event app on your mobile device in advance of arriving onsite, so you have sufficient time to trouble-shoot with our app support team should you need assistance.
Next week we will send out our final Bulletin before convention week. Next week’s Bulletin will include tips and tricks for navigating the Event Mobi platform to ensure you are “ convention-ready”. If you have questions or need assistance with the app, please email appsupport@ubcm.ca

Get Resolution Ready!
The 172-page Resolutions Book is now available online and includes 201 resolutions that were received from the members by the June 30th deadline.
The UBCM Executive are also putting forward two Extraordinary Resolutions (ER) and three Special Resolutions (SR) for consideration. This makes a total of 206 resolutions that address a wide range of issues affecting BC communities. Three Resolutions Sessions are planned in the Convention Program over Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for this year’s resolutions. We look forward to many lively debates and seeing the direction that our members’ decisions will provide.
Please dedicate time to review the detailed Conference Rules and Procedures for Handling Resolutions outlined in the 2022 Resolutions Book.
In response to strong and continuing feedback from our members to go paperless, the Resolutions Book as well as Policy Book 1 will no longer be printed. It is highly recommended that delegates bring a laptop or tablet for optimal viewing. However, if a paper copy of either document is essential for your personal use, please make arrangements to print a copy prior to coming on-site at Convention.
The Resolutions Book is currently featured on the ubcm.ca home page and the 2022 Convention main page. While the Resolutions Book will be accessible through the Event App, Policy Book 1 will be made available on the website and event app on the evening of Sunday, September 11th.
The perspective of each and every local government matters, so join in to have your say! Your VOTE will count only if you are an officially registered Convention Delegate voting onsite in Whistler. Please get the word out to your UBCM member colleagues to make sure they are planning to join you to make your positions known. Your voice should be heard, now more than ever.

Celebrate Community Excellence
Kick off Tuesday’s Night of Networking by making your way to the Mount Currie Ballroom, Hilton Hotel for the UBCM Community Excellence Awards Ceremony & Reception.
All delegates are welcome to come and find out who won this year’s UBCM Excellence Awards from 5:30pm-6:30pm.
During the ceremonies part of our short program, we'll have a few speakers to help present these prestigious awards, including the Minister of Municipal Affairs. Right after the winners are announced, the celebration will kick off with drinks and canapes for all!
The UBCM Excellence Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge local government successes, to recognize the hard-working elected officials and staff that are leading the way, and share outstanding initiatives with other members to implement in their own communities.
This is your chance to learn and take away actionable ideas from some of the most innovative projects taking place around BC. Come cheer on and celebrate the 2022 UBCM Excellence Award Winners. Delegate Badges will be required for admission to this event.
Be sure to show up early as we're sure this will be a popular event!

See You at the Banquet!
The UBCM Annual Banquet will be hosted in the Sea to Sky Ballrooms in the upper level of the Whistler Conference Centre. This year we are pleased to bring back Whistler's very own The Hair Farmers, voted "Whistler's Best Band" every year since 2001.
This duo features stunning vocals backed by innovative guitar and percussion. The huge repertoire of songs the band covers are guaranteed to get everyone up out of their seats and onto the dance floor.
The Annual Banquet is an opportunity for delegates and their guests to network with colleagues from around the province. This semi-formal event includes a reception and three-course meal. This year during the Banquet, there will be a short presentation to recognize those joining the prestigious group of Life Members.
Pre-registration is required and there will be no reserved seating.
We can’t wait to see everyone there!
