First Week of Classes

Unbridled joy and unparalleled enthusiasm marked the return to classes for the fall semester at Academy of the Holy Names.

Students and faculty alike adjusted to new schedules, and immediately got to the business of learning.

In Mrs. Gibbons' class, for example, students logged online for lessons in keyboarding.

Panthers Update

AHN athletics is in full swing and the Panthers are on the prowl.

JV and Varsity volleyball held the homecourt versus Mohonasen on Monday.

Julia Viglucci's first place finish paced the cross country's victory over Ravena on Tuesday, while the tennis team picked up the first of its two victories of the week, topping Emma Willard, followed by a win over Voorheesville on Wednesday.

Varsity volleyball also notched its second win of the week Wednesday over Catholic Central.

AHN Athletics Schedule

Bottom: the cross country squad led by first place finisher Julia Viglucci (left), Julia Lynch, Logan Schlegel, Ana Guerra, Summer Reinoehl. Missing: Abby Edwards.

AHN Night at CBA

Mother Nature did her best to put a damper on things Friday night for AHN Night at Christian Brothers Academy, but our stalwart community was not deterred with more than 100 people braving the rain to show their AHN pride!

The "Battle for the Sabre" may have been delayed until the following afternoon between CBA and the LaSalle Institute (CBA would emerge victorious), but our cheer squad, Penny the Panther, and the rest of the AHN team were happy to see so many of our students, families, alumnae, and friends at the tailgate.

Wall Dedication, Ribbon Cutting Delayed

Rendering provided by PostMktg

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Carlo Cherubino Athletic Hall of Fame dedication, originally scheduled for Sunday, September 24, has been postponed.

The event will now coincide with this year's Fall Sports Banquet on Sunday, November 5, at noon, here on the Holy Names campus.

Join us as we celebrate the legacy of Holy Names athletics by recognizing our fall athletes, presenting a special honor to all previous HOF inductees, and dedicating the new Hall of Fame.

AHN Golf Classic

AHN's Annual Golf Classic is set to tee off on Monday, October 2 at Normanside Country Club.

This year's competition features a pink twist, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting To Life!, an organization promoting breast cancer awareness.

Answering the Call: Pantuso Joins AHN as New Social Worker

Service is among the core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM). It’s also one of Tina Pantuso’s.

“Holy Names quickly became part of my calling,” says Pantuso, AHN’s newest Licensed Clinical Social Worker. “Truth be told, it wasn’t a part of ‘my plan’ but God opened doors for me to be here. I applied for a substitute teacher position with AHN and was contacted and told there was a part-time school social worker job available. With social work being where my heart is, of course, I applied…I love working with teenagers on their journey toward better mental health and loved the mix of that in a faith-based school.”
