A note from FloridaWest
Community Leaders & Friends of FloridaWest,
Competition between states and communities for economic growth is as fierce as ever, and the economic development organizations and the places they represent that are best prepared will ultimately fare better. Being prepared in economic development means many things — workforce and education, infrastructure, business sites and facilities, affordable housing, transportation, cultural offerings, recreation and cost of living are some of the “quality of place” issues employers often consider when deciding where to grow.
Also important to any community that is serious about economic development is its ability to strategize, market, and develop proposals that match what the community has to offer with what a company needs. That part of the economic development process requires local leadership, vision, resources, and an organization that has both the authority and capability to achieve success.
As Pensacola/Escambia County’s lead economic development organization, the FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance is responsible for helping our community achieve its full economic growth potential. An ambitious but realistic economic growth strategy has been adopted, and FloridaWest is now undertaking a process to assess how important the full implementation of that plan is. The result of this assessment phase could be enhanced capabilities for FloridaWest, making Pensacola and Escambia County more competitive with other metros and their development organizations.
There is a lot at stake — how Pensacola/Escambia County competes with other places that are essentially doing the same thing is important. Improved economic prosperity, better job opportunities, and an enhanced quality of life for all, are the ultimate goals.
Thank you to the local leaders whose vision and input are helping drive this important process for FloridaWest and our community.
Sincerely,
Brian Hilson
CEO
