"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience;

we are spiritual beings having a human experience."

• Pierre Teilhard de Chardin •

While yoga is probably best known for its physical, mental, and emotional benefits, the practice of yoga benefits us in ways beyond the obvious. Kundalini Yoga is founded upon the principle that we are not human beings having a spiritual experience, but spiritual beings having a human experience.

With deeply spiritual roots, the intention of yoga is not only to feel better, but to connect with the infinite wisdom and blessings of the soul. The art and science of Kundalini Yoga extends beyond the physical to integrate the mind, body, and perhaps most importantly, spirit.

This joining together is what we call “yoga.” The idea is that we are not human beings striving to be spiritual; we are already spiritual beings. In the quiet moments and depth of our practice, we can reconnect with this knowledge.

Video Practice: Meditation for Elevation, Connection, and Joy with Ang Sang Wahe Guru

This meditation uses the mantra Ang Sang Wahe Guru, which translates as “The dynamic, loving energy of the Infinite is dancing in every limb and every cell of my being.” Practice this medtiation and allow the mantra to fill every cell with light and love. Imagine your individual consciousness merging with the Universal Consciousness.

Kriya to See the Inner Beauty

In Kundalini Yoga there are many practices that produce the state of union or ecstasy by combining the energies of prana and apana at the base of the spine, and raising the energy up to the pineal gland. This kriya focuses on releasing tension that inhibits the free flow of energy, and raising consciousness through the movement of ojas, a concentrated fluid of life force energy.

Indra Nittri Meditation

Indra Nittri means the "eyes of Indra." Indra is an ancient Vedic deity. It connotes the feeling that every pore of the body becomes an all-seeing eye. It represents the knowledge that comes through the Soul and intuition. The body is a temple through which you can experience the consciousness of the Infinite. As that happens, all knowledge and bliss flow through you.

July Numerology: Rest and Restore

The month of July grants and encourages a time to shelter away from the world while shifting into “rest and restore” mode. The year so far has been experienced as a near-constant stream of overwhelm, and by virtue of human design, we need to create a balance of ease and flow within ourselves.

The number 7 represents the themes of elevation, nature, music, the Water Element, self-trust, and an innate knowingness of what is true or false. Our gut instincts will be getting a “reboot,” and by allowing yourself a time-out in nature, you will be gifted with clarity that will reveal the missing pieces of the puzzle.
