Arbor Day
We are excited to invite you to join us for the upcoming Arbor Day Celebration on April 26th, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Little Cottonwood Park. As a nationally recognized Tree City USA City, this event is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the beauty of nature, encourage a love for the environment, and have fun connecting with our wonderful community! The day will feature family-friendly activities such as face painting, arts & crafts for kids, a bounce house, tree planting, and more! We will also be offering free seedlings (while supplies last) for participants to take home and plant. We also have an exciting nature walk planned, where kids can participate in 2–3-minute exciting workshops and learn about the importance of trees and the environment. Before the main festivities begin, we've teamed up with UWS to offer a free compost and mulch giveaway starting at 9:00 AM (residents only). We look forward to seeing you there!

Clean-up Day
In partnership with Universal Waste Systems (UWS), the City is hosting an exclusive event for residents to safely dispose of bulky items, electronic waste, and yard waste. Also, take advantage of the on-site free paper shredding services. Simply bring your valid ID to verify residency and drive through the convenient queue line. It's quick, easy, and free for all residents!

Spring Carnival
This Saturday is the Los Alamitos Recreation and Community Services Department invites the community to the MemorialCare Miller Children' s & Women's Hospital Long Beach Spring Carnival presented by Cal Optima on April 19, 2025 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquar Avenue). The carnival will feature the popular egg hunts, live music, arts and crafts, a photo area with Peter Rabit, carnival game booths, bounce houses, vendor booths, and many family-fun activities.
Egg hunts begin at 10:00 a.m. with age group 0-2 Please join our Los Alamitos Police Department at 10:45 a.m. for a K9 demonstration! Embrace the joy of spring with a delightful celebration filled with colorful flowers and exciting family activities!

Spring Day Camp
Register your 5–12-year-old for Spring Day Camp today! Campers will enjoy a variety of organized indoor and outdoor games, crafts, and activities, all thoughtfully designed around the week’s theme. Our amazing Recreation staff will lead participants through the day’s activities in a safe and exciting environment. All staff members are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. Scholarships are available for eligible Los Alamitos residents.

Saturday Youth Sports
Registration is now open for a variety of Youth Sport programs this Summer!
This Summer Season, Mini Superstars (2-3 yrs old), Parent & Me T-Ball (2-3 yrs old), and Jr. Pee Wee Baseball (4-6 yrs old) will take the field starting Saturday, June 14. All three sessions are on Saturdays for five weeks at Little Cottonwood Park (4000 Farquhar Ave.) and are 45 minutes each.
Looking to swing for the stars? Parent & Me T-ball (2-3 yrs old) or Jr. Pee Wee Baseball (4-6 yrs old) will be the program for your little one. Led by experienced Recreation Staff, participants will go over basic skills such as fielding, batting, and throwing. Not sure what sport your little one will enjoy? Give Mini Superstars a shot! Mini Superstars will cover the basics of football, soccer, and basketball.

New Co-ed 18+
Soccer League!
Our brand-new Co-ed Soccer league offers a fantastic way to stay active, improve your skills, and meet new people. We foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where players of all skill levels can enjoy playing soccer in a friendly, competitive, and fun setting. It's more than just a game – it's a chance to connect, get active, and create lasting memories. Games for the Co-ed 18+ division will take place at the Oak Middle School Fields (10821 Oak St.) on Sunday evenings.
In addition to the Co-ed 18+ division, The City of Los Alamitos Adult Soccer League offers two other divisions: 7v7 Wednesdays Men’s 35 and Over, and 7v7 Thursdays Women’s 30 and Over. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged!
Regular registration for all divisions is open through April 30 at a price of $660 per team. Teams can have up to a maximum of 16 players. A $20 referee fee is required to be paid by each team per game for a 2-ref system. The 2025 Summer Season will commence the week of September, May 4. We can’t wait to KICK it with you and your squad this Summer!

Pick-up Basketball
Pick-Up Basketball is back on Tuesday nights! Join us for Pick-Up Basketball from 8:30 – 10:00 p.m. at the Oak Middle School Gym (10821 Oak St.) The drop-in price is $5 cash per person. Come solo or bring friends and rotate through games of basketball. Must be at least 18 years old. All skill levels welcome!
