DISTRICT MISSION: The mission of the Cedarburg School District is to provide an exemplary education that challenges students in a nurturing environment to develop into lifelong learners, to become responsible adults, and to achieve their goals and dreams.
From the Superintendent
Dear CSD Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year! Like all new school years, this year brings great excitement and opportunity. Each member of the Cedarburg School District is eagerly invested in accomplishing our mission “..to provide an exemplary education that challenges students in a nurturing environment to develop into lifelong learners, to become responsible adults, and to achieve their goals and dreams.” To that end, the district continues focusing on becoming a high-functioning Professional Learning Community (PLC). For those of you not familiar with the term PLC, it is a process of using student data and teacher collaboration to ensure educators are answering the four (4) PLC questions:
  1. What do we want all students to know and be able to do?
  2. How will we know if they learn it?
  3. How will we respond when some students do not learn?
  4. How will we extend the learning for students who are already proficient?

CSD has been refining its practices as a PLC for over a decade, and we have two schools, Webster Middle School and Parkview Elementary School, that have received national recognition as Model PLC at Work schools. To assist CSD educators in growing their practice, we held our first-ever Professional Learning Community (PLC) Institute in August, where all presenters were CSD staff members. The power of that day was that our staff could learn about the successful educational strategies and techniques their colleagues use with our students every school day. Another important aspect of the day was that all the learning was focused on Cedarburg students from Cedarburg teachers.

I welcome you and your student to the 2023-2024 school year in the Cedarburg School District and hope it is the best year of learning yet!

I am wishing you a great start to the school year!

Dr. Jeridon Clark, Superintendent
A Few Highlights ICYMI (in case you missed it)
If the first two weeks of school are any indication, it will be a GREAT school year!
Parkview Paw Party
At the first Bullpup Paw Party, Parkview students were introduced to the staff teams, celebrated being part of the Parkview “team,” learned about showing Parkview Pride at Paw Parties, recognized birthdays, and sang the school song. Coming together as a school community filled everyone with energy and excitement for the year ahead.
First Friday Assembly at Webster
The Webster First Friday Assembly was a huge success! The students reviewed ROAR (Responsible, On Task, Accountable, Respectful) expectations, performed homeroom chants, and enjoyed watching the new teachers have a friendly competition!
Westlawn PBIS Modeling

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a school-wide approach that establishes clear student expectations and takes active steps toward teaching, modeling, and reinforcing appropriate behaviors. Westlawn spent some Morning POD time teaching procedures and expectations to students.

Last week, Westlawn students taught CSD Director of Curriculum Alan Groth, lunchroom procedures during our PBIS back-to-school activity!
Jaguar Jumpstart at Thorson
Jaguar Jumpstart is a weekly all-school meeting held each Monday of the school year. Morning meetings set the tone for respectful learning and help foster a culture of trust and support. These meetings allow staff to continue building a strong school community, provide unity among the students and staff, further develop critical character traits, and celebrate the great things happening in the school.
CHS Recognized Among Nation's Best High Schools
Cedarburg High School has been recognized on US News & World Report's annual list of "Best High Schools" for 2023! CHS is honored to be ranked #3 in the state and #263 in the national rankings, placing CHS in the top <1% in the nation. Amongst WI comprehensive public high schools, CHS ranks #1! This recognition is a direct result of the hard work of our great teachers and support staff whose dedication supports high levels of student learning every day at school. Congrats to the staff and students at CHS!

Cedarburg School Board
School Board Member Recognition Reception

As you know, School Board member Rick Leach has resigned from his position on the Board. Mr. Leach has served on the School Board from December 2009 to August 3, 2023, for a total of over 14 years!! As a way to say thank you and acknowledge his service to our staff, students, and community, we will be hosting a small reception immediately prior to the September 20th School Board meeting. The reception will be held in the High School IMC and will begin at 6:00 pm. Feel free to attend and show your appreciation to Mr. Leach for his service.
New School Board Member Appointed

On September 13th, in a Special Board meeting, the School Board appointed Dr. Nicholas Silvaggi to fill the Board’s vacant position created when Mr. Leach resigned. His term began upon appointment and will end with the spring election in April 2024.
Attendance Absence Practices
We all recognize that regular attendance at school is a necessary requirement for students to gain the academic knowledge and skills required to be successful in their academic endeavors. In fact, Wisconsin state law requires that “all children between six (6) and eighteen (18) years of age shall attend school regularly during the full period and hours, religious holidays excepted, that the school is in session.” We also know that sometimes students get sick or the occasional family obligation arises.

A student is considered absent for a “full day” when they have missed more than 33% (approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes) of a school day. To help families navigate full-day student absences, click here to learn more about Cedarburg School District practices.
Aramark A La Carte Changes Reminder
Last month a notice was sent to all Webster and CHS families regarding an update to the charge policy Aramark has for a la carte lunch items in anticipation of the new school year. Aramark will also be adding signage to their spaces to start the year to help highlight these changes for students. Learn more here.
CHS Bulldog Cafe Grand Opening
A grand opening student event will be held before school on Monday, September 25th, celebrating the Bulldog Café. The new Café is a student-led community dining experience located near the main entrance in CHS. The logo was designed by Cedarburg High School student Brooklynn Stalter, Class of 2024. CHS students will assist with the management of and work in the Café. Participants in Cedarburg SD’s adult transition R.E.A.C.H. program will be working at the Bulldog Café as part of their program’s curriculum, learning workplace skills and receiving job coaching. In collaboration with Aramark, the Café will feature Java City Coffee, blended beverages, freshly baked pastries, light sandwiches, and snacks. We hope this serves as another community space where students can gather within the school to foster school spirit.
Homecoming is an incredibly fun time of the year at CHS. It’s a week filled with creative themes and activities. We wish to thank all the area businesses for their continued support of our students. Our schools are the heart of the community, and the whole community plays an essential role in the growth and development of its young people.

Together, we accomplish great things!
