Message From Our Superintendent

Hello Reedsburg Families!

The month of October has brought forth a new normal practice/drill event in our schools, Safety Drills. Unfortunately, that is now our current reality, and it’s important that we continue to prepare for actions that challenge our safety and security. Your District continues steps to advance our safety preparedness.

Every school will hold one safety drill during this month. It is one thing to say that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. Our actions and future plans demonstrate our commitment to that priority. While it is an unfortunate reality, and our hope is that these plans will never become necessary, as a District, we remain committed to being as prepared as possible.

Energy and optimism abound amid the hard work and daily challenges, and I continue to be grateful for your efforts and commitment to our kids. Thank you for everything you do to inspire creativity, innovation, and a desire to achieve greatness! Have an awesome day!

Please continue to talk to your children about the importance of reporting safety concerns or threats to a trusted adult in their school or to their principal. As always, please know that any threat to safety or security is taken seriously and investigated in conjunction with our strong partners at the Reedsburg Police Department. Have a great day!

All the Best,

Roger J. Rindo, Ed.D.

Superintendent

LONG-TERM FACILITIES PLANNING UPDATE:

The School District of Reedsburg is focused on creating innovative facilities with modern learning environments that will support rigorous academic programs and career pathways for ALL students. The aim of long-term facilities planning is to map out, over time, how existing facilities can best be adapted to support future educational programming, which aging buildings should be considered for replacement, and when deferred maintenance needs should be addressed.

“Innovative Facilities with Modern Learning Environments” was identified as a strategic area of focus during the district’s strategic planning process. As a result, the Board of Education and administration are engaging in a series of facilities planning workshops to consider relevant data, analyze facilities planning options, and identify the plan that best meets the district’s needs.

As the board and administration move ahead on the next steps, stay tuned to the Long-Term Facilities Planning website page linked below.

School Board Members Recognized for Commitment to Professional Development

At the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) Regional Meeting held recently, the following Board members received special recognition:

  • Leo Almeida - Achievement Level 1
  • Ross Retzlaff - Achievement Level 1
  • Heather Westphal - Achievement Level 1 & 2
  • Gabe Bauer - Achievement Level 2
  • Gary Woolever - Achievement Level 5

Through its Member Recognition Program, the WASB recognizes board members who are committed to professional development. Board members earn points for attending WASB events and participating in specific activities. After earning a designated number of points, board members are awarded an Achievement Level (ranging from 1-5), and they are publicly recognized at that member's WASB Regional Fall Meeting, which for Reedsburg was October 11.

Level 5 recognition is limited to the most active school board members in the state. A mark reached this year by only about a dozen of the more than 2,800 school board members statewide, including our own Board President, Gary Woolever. Board members with Level 5 recognition have gone far beyond the requirements of school board membership in an effort to support the students in their community.

All of these board members are to be commended for their commitment to our district and students.
