In this month's newsletter, we're discussing upcoming additions to our vendor database integrations
Vendor Database Updates
One of the things that makes our system such a good fit for many stores over a generic point of sale system is the industry specific database integrations we offer that allow for you to search and import those databases from various industry resources and import specifically the items you need into your inventory. We're always looking to improve these tools for our customers.

As such, we're providing a new feature for several of our vendor database options that has been requested from a few users, and thought we'd take this chance to review these databases.

First, the AEC Enhanced database is a recent addition to the software. A vendor database designed for record stores, AEC Enhanced allows you to search by a wide variety of fields including release date, artist, title, and tracks. This will also provide images upon importing.
This database is available to AEC's customers who get permission from them to use it. The new feature allows you to update your pricing from AEC's MSRP field on an individual item. You will go through the more menu in items, then selected item, then database pricing. This menu will contain all of the databases we're going over here, plus the Discogs database. Clicking that will give you a screen from which you can update your pricing from the database.
Next, we have added this same feature to the AMS database. The AMS database is another record store feed, but this one is freely available to all ThunderPOS users. Cloud users should just always have access to the database; on-premise users will need to go through the vendor databases section and then AMS.

While this does not have pictures available for import, AMS does offer a cost for updating as well as the pricing.
Finally, we're adding a similar feature to VGPC. VGPC is a subscription video game database that offers new and used pricing, with options for derived from online sales marketplaces or from that of major retailers. It can be a tremendous boon for data entry for a game store.

You'll need to talk to sales or go through autolicensing if you want a subscription to VGPC.
As VGPC has by far the most pricing information for any of the databases here, you can see that you can update new price and any of the used and trade pricing fields based on it. Unlike when mass updating, you can select whether to use the alternate or main price feed at the time of updating the individual item.

We hope these enhancements will assist users on any of these databases; a similar screen is already in place for Discogs. Those interested in beginning to use these databases may contact us for more information if questions were not covered in this article.
Programming Requests
We are beginning to budget programming time for the next several months once some current features in the pipeline are released, including the vendor database enhancement above and offline mode for cloud. As such, we'd like to remind you all that we take feature requests at support@thunderpos.com; we focus our programming efforts based on what our users tell us are refinements or additions they want to cover their stores.
The current version of the software, available for supported users, is 22.6.3. To get back on support, or to upgrade to phone support from email support, contact sales at (919) 387-7597 x100. If you are not on phone support, and you call, a response will be sent to the email address on file. You can also buy a support incident from our website.

Windows 11 has been released. The current version of ThunderPOS does work with it. However, certain older printer models, such as some versions of the Bixolon SRP-770II, do not. Older versions of ThunderPOS and ExtremePOS have not been tested with Windows 11 and we do not guarantee functionality.

If you are on a version older than 4.0 that has been sunset, you can contact sales for information on purchasing an update. All versions prior to ThunderPOS 5.0 will be sunset from support on December 31st, 2022.

We will be closed Monday, September 5th for Labor Day.
