Bischoff born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. His love for the outdoors coupled with his mother’s approval of his first pet - a garter snake - at the age of six. He has had snakes as pets for nearly his entire life since, including a Timber Rattlesnake he uses for environmental education.
He completed a BA in Sociology from the University of Cincinnati in 2004 and went on to get a MS in Outdoor Recreation, focusing on Environmental Education from Indiana University in 2006. While at IU, he completed an internship working at Glacier National Park and realized for sure that he wanted to be a ranger.
In the summer of 2007, Bischoff started working with NC State Parks and has worked for them for the last 15 years. His passion is for the outdoors and specifically trying to break down the fear people associate with the normal “scary” animals like snakes, bugs and bears.
