End of Summer Reading Pool Party!
If you reach the completion badge by July 31st, you are eligible to join us on August 6th for a private pool party at the Tippecanoe Family Aquatic Center from 7:30-9:30 p.m.   Passes will be available to pick up at the library through  August 2nd. If you haven't yet signed up for the Summer Reading Challenge, there is still time to do so before the pool party deadline.  Not sure what to do to get to the Completion Badge in Beanstack? Ask a library staff member for an explanation. Thank you to the Friends of the Library and everyone who has bought used books at the library for sponsorship of this event!

Events Planned for the Whole Family
Summer Storytimes
Storytime in the Park
July 21 10:00-10:30 a.m.

Join Miss Heidi and Miss Julie for stories, music, movement, & more. Storytime will be in City Park on N. Third St. in the grassy area across from the bathrooms. Ages 2-5 are welcome with an adult.
Baby Cuddle Time
NOW ON MONDAYS**
July 11 & 25 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.

For children under 2 years old and an adult guardian (parents, grandparents or caregivers are welcome.) Enjoy songs, rhymes, bubbles, and stories. You’re never too young for storytime fun! Meets in the Teen Area downstairs.
Toddler Tales
July 13 & 27 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.

For 2 & 3 year olds and adult guardian. Join us for stories, singing, dancing and easy crafts. Toddler Tales will develop a love of books and reading in your tot and help them learn to socialize with other children. Join us in the Meeting Room downstairs for this class.
Preschool Storytime
July 14 & 28 10:15 - 11:00 a.m.

For 4 & 5 year olds and an adult guardian. This storytime includes chances for children to sing, play, talk, and make simple crafts- everything they’ll need to get ready for school. Join us in the Meeting Room downstairs.
July Family Nights
Make Your Own Stuffed Animal
July 26 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

One of our favorite Family Nights is making stuffed animals with Zoo Factory kits! On Tuesday, July 26 from 6:30-7:30 PM make and adopt a 16-inch sea animal. We’ll also have a brief storytime with our new stuffed friends.

Registration is required and will take place in person at the library from June 27-July 6 @6:00 PM. There is a fee of $16.50 payable by check or cash at the library at the time of registration. You will select your first choice stuffed animal and a second choice, in case a particular animal is sold out by the time we place our order.
Movin' on the Water
July 12 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Learn about boats and buoyancy through stories, crafts, and experiments. Will your boat stay afloat? Takes place in the Meeting Room downstairs.
Mermaid and Pirate Party
July 19 6:30 - 7:30 p.m.

Bring the whole family for stories, crafts, games, and treats celebrating mermaids and pirates. Wear a costume if you like! This program takes place in the Meeting Room downstairs.
July Elementary Activities
Pirates Lost at Sea Performance
July 13 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Set sail on an action-packed adventure with a crew of quirky pirates marooned on a desert island. Throughout the story, explore the science behind clouds, physical & chemical changes, air pressure and more!


This live performance is presented by Talewise, and is made possible by a generous donation from Greenville Federal.

July 20 10:30 - 11:30 p.m.

Follow easy instructions to create cute sea animal cartoons. You don’t have to be an artist to have fun with this program. This program takes place in the Meeting Room downstairs.
Upcoming Programs for 6th-12th Grade Youth
July Teen Contests
Don’t forget that youth going into grades 6th-12th grade in August will also receive points in their Beanstack account for participating in our twice-a-month contests and commenting on our Sound Off Wall in the Teen Den. These activities count toward your DIY Activities Badge.
Make Some Beach Themed Wall Art
This activity is for youth in grades 6-12 and will be available during regular library business hours in the Teen Den. Trying this activity will earn you points in your Beanstack account towards your DIY Activities Badge.

We’ll provide the materials for you to create a summertime decoration using flip flops and our Cricut machine to add a breezy, beach-inspired saying to your sign. Available until materials are gone, 1 sign per person please.

Teen Survivor Island
July 7
10:30 a.m. - noon

Imagine you're on a sinking ship- what would you throw overboard to save? Or you're flying over the Bermuda Triangle and you need to solve a puzzle to land the plane safely, will your nerves get the best of you? Join us in the Meeting Room downstairs for some team building and Escape Room-type games.

Get Crafty with Undersea Glow Jars
July 15
2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m

Make a glowing nightlight for your room from a Mason Jar and mini-lights. Decorate the inside and outside of the jar to look like an underwater scene.

Join us for an educational talk from Clara Bement, Greenhouse Operations Coordinator at The Foodbank in Dayton, as she discusses hydroponics and urban gardening in Dayton and what you can do in your own home. Charlie Greene from Tadmoor Greenes, will share what native plants we should plant and how to solve food insecurity for our native pollinators.
Aperture: A Discussion of Silent Light
July 6
6:30-7:30 p.m.

Movies have a way of capturing our imagination and lodging in our memory like no other popular art form can.

July's selection is Silent Light, a contemplative and deeply human film from 2007 directed by Carlos Reygadas and starring Cornelia Wall, Miriam Towes, and Maria Pankratz. The story among a Mennonite community in Mexico who are rocked by an extramarital affair.

Silent Light is available to be streamed for free on Kanopy (details available on the library website). Register by filling out the linked form, and you can either come to the library at the time of the event to participate in person, or connect virtually. Details will be sent to you.

Overdue for a Brew: Sea Craft Beer, Modern Imports

Join us for an outdoor talk and beer tasting event with beer writer & Advanced Cicerone David Nilsen at the Tipp City Public Library. David will talk about how traditional, imported beers have influenced American craft beer, and will lead us in a tasting of beer styles that illustrate this.
