Lenten Choral Evensong

On March 9th, the First Sunday in Lent, we began our Lenten journey with a lovely and solemn service of Choral Evensong sung by the All Saints Choir.

Also during Lent, the Flower Guild graced the Altar with seasonal Lenten greenery, and they added flowers honoring several parishioners during their funerals, including the passing of Jane Hughes, a longtime faithful member of the Guild.

Journeys of Hope

Click HERE to read the 2025 Annual Report from Little Lights, one of our local Mission partners, and check out the stories of hope and resilience of those they serve every day, and those whom we also are blessed to serve through our partnership with Little Lights - tutoring kids, and helping with food insecurity, summer camp, and much more!

Read, for instance, about Ronada, a former Little Lights student who grew up in Potomac Gardens, and see the resilience throughout her story. Despite the hardships that came with growing up in public housing, Ronada knew she was smart and had a brighter future ahead. Little Lights was an important part of her childhood and helped her to create a strong academic foundation.

As Ronada grew, she excelled in school and one day, a high school teacher said to her, “I see you with a ‘Dr.’ in front of your name one day.” Thus, a dream to get her PhD was born.

“The dream was given to me,” said Ronada. “It gave me hope and purpose, and so I took it." With this dream spoken over me, I felt seen and began to see myself differently.”

Ronada continued to persevere, taking things one step at a time, balancing deep gratitude for the opportunities she was given and self-determination and hard work to achieve success. After years of schooling, Ronada recently achieved this dream and received a PhD in in English Writing and Rhetoric, sharing, “This accomplishment is truly a testimony to resilience and a deep belief in self and knowing that anything is possible.”

The words we speak over these kids - and the dreams we help give them and their families in the name of Christ - makes a difference in their lives. Never doubt it!

“Heavenly Thrifting”

Washingtonian magazine

Our own All Saints Thrift Shop was one of the church thrift shops featured in the April 2025 issue of Washingtonian magazine. The author, Cathy Alter, an ASC Thrift Shop volunteer, calls church thrift shops “miracles” and those she lists “the best of the best”!

She highlights our “sparkling” shop – still relatively undiscovered by resellers - and notes that it is marketed as a “high-end boutique”. Like the other church thrift shops, it depends on donations from both parishioners and neighbors. Check out the article in Washingtonian magazine – then come check out the Thrift Shop!
