Paine Elementary School Hosts Annual Turkey Trot

FEELING THANKFUL: Paine Elementary School family members joined students, staff, and special guest GGUSD Board of Education Trustee Bob Harden for the school's annual Turkey Trot celebration. Participants walked, skipped and danced around the school; enjoying water and cutie clementines along the way. Paine students appreciate this healthy, non-competitive event - because exercise is great, but exercising with friends is even better (Goal 2)! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters

GGUSD National Blue Ribbon Schools Honored in Special DC Ceremony

CELEBRATE: Today, Anthony Elementary School, Cook Elementary School and Paine Elementary School administrators and teachers as well as GGUSD Superintendent Gabriela Mafi attended the 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Ceremony in Washington D.C. We are so proud of these three schools for earning the National Blue Ribbon Award in the category of Exemplary High Performing Schools.

This prestigious honor is based on a school’s overall academic performance and was awarded to only 353 schools across the nation including 33 in California. GGUSD had 9% of the state's blue ribbon winners and a remarkable 50% of the 6 blue ribbon schools from Orange County. #GGUSDPride #ggusdgoalgetters

GGUSD Students are Super Scientists

Students at Stanley Elementary School donned their safety goggles to conduct scientific experiments about temperature, weather, and how to read a thermometer. We love seeing our students engage in hands-on learning.

STUDENT SCIENTISTS: Thanks to an OCDE grant and funding from MWDOC, Morningside's 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders learned about data analysis and California water systems! The Drip-Drop Inside the Outdoors program engaged GGUSD's future scientists in scientific data analysis to investigate local weather patterns, water usage, and ways to help local communities practice water conservation! #MustangsLeadtheWay #GGUSDPride #ggusdgoalgetters

Pacifica High School Holds College Signing Celebration for Athletes

A HUGE congratulations to the 7 Pacifica softball players who signed their NLI last week, making a commitment to play college-level softball! We are so proud of these students for earning this amazing achievement on their path to lifelong success (Goal 3)! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters.

Stanford Elementary Students Spread Kindness

Stanford staff and students wanted to highlight the power of kindness and positivity at school. Using the common thread of kindness, they created activities for the students. In the morning the Kindness Club stood outside during drop-off and reminded our community to Be Kind. The PTO created a backdrop for teachers to take pictures with their classes and finally, the ASPIRE team joined the students at lunch and used chalk to write messages of kindness on the blacktop.

Ralston Students Design New Innovations

Students in CTE Design and Modeling at Ralston Intermediate School showcased their creativity and compassion by designing and developing a specialized toy tailored for children with cerebral palsy, targeting various physical skills. Their innovative approach not only exemplified their technical skills (Goal 1) but also contributed to the well-being and development of children with unique needs (Goal 2) This class activity complements Ralston's Special Olympics, Unified PE class, and its school-wide efforts for inclusion, understanding and empathy. #GGUSDPride #ggusdgoalgetters

Pacifica Strengthens Unified PE Program

Students in the Unified PE class from Pacifica High School attended a Youth Leadership Conference with other schools in Southern CA to learn more about whole school engagement, youth leadership, and Unified Sports! We love seeing our students embrace opportunities to foster a warm and welcoming school climate (Goal 2). #GGUSDPride #ggusdgoalgetters

GGUSD Celebrates Modernization of Board Room

Last week, GGUSD's Board of Education members and superintendent cut the ceremonial red ribbon to celebrate the first meeting in the newly-modernized board room. Our Facilities Team has done an amazing job with the district office renovations including window and air conditioning replacements, utility upgrades, fire alarm upgrades, roof and flooring replacements, and accessibility upgrades throughout the building.

The district office was renovated only after our school campuses were fully modernized thanks to Measure P which was approved by voters in November 2016 by 76.3%. We are grateful for the improvements made to our school campuses which have transformed the learning environment for our students. School modernization is part of (Goal 2) providing students with a high quality, warm and welcoming learning environment where they can thrive! #GGUSDPride #GGUSDGoalGetters
