Important Information for Nurse Practitioners
Updated Federal Guidance on MAID Reporting
Health Canada has published updated guidance on federal reporting requirements for MAID with respect to the amendments to the Regulations for the Monitoring of MAID. Here is the link to the updated information: Guidance Document: Reporting Requirements Under the Regulations Amending the Regulations for the Monitoring of Medical Assistance in Dying. These changes are reflected in the Practice Guideline for Registered Nurses and Nurse Practitioners: Medical Assistance in Dying.

Social Media
Did you know that approximately 35% of the complaints alleging abusive or inappropriate communication or behaviour by a nurse are related to inappropriate comments made on social media? Nurses must always remember to exercise professional judgment when posting remarks online or even when using private messaging on social media platforms, especially if they relate to patients, colleagues, the workplace, or the practice of nursing. Linked below are resources that can help nurses understand the importance of maintaining professionalism and making informed decisions when using social media.
