Culture United: Reservation Dogs

Reservation Dogs is a teen “dramedy” entirely created and produced by a mostly indigenous North American cast. Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi created the show. However, all its writers and directors are indigenous. The FX series is also the first production filmed entirely in Oklahoma. The series revolves around four indigenous teens fighting and committing crime in rural Oklahoma. A death of a friend—prior to the series’ launch--inspires a desire to move to California to fulfill Daniel’s dream. A storyline focuses on tying up loose ends before making their escape. The show highlights kinship care since one of the characters lives with his uncle. Learn more here.

Culture United highlights films, books, music, TV shows, and art with an intergenerational theme. Do you have any suggestions? Share them with us, and we'll share in the weeks and months to come. We welcome responses or reactions. See disclaimer.
