Hello Michael,

Here is what's happening

at Market Wines this week!

Facebook  Twitter

It is the last weekend before Thanksgiving and we are stocked to the gills with all your Thanksgiving party needs. This weekend’s tasting also includes some great domestic wines that pair well with Thanksgiving Dinner. We a great Pinot Gris from California up first, followed by an amazing Gewurztraminer. Not familiar with Gewurztraminer, then it’s time to try this great grape. The two reds are an incredible Pinot Noir from Oregon and a big phenomenal Zinfandel from California.

We will be open the Monday before Thanksgiving from 9:00-5:00. Stop by to get your Thanksgiving wine and beer needs and beat the crowds.

Belgian Disco is our annual kick off to the holiday season. Join us Wednesday November 22nd at 5:30 for the tapping of our first Christmas Beer; St. Bernardus Christmas Ale. Weather permitting, we will have the Solo Stove out front for making s’mores and bockwurst.

Friday, November 24th, will be our annual Black Friday wine tasting. It will be set up the same way as our weekend tasting. Limited seating, call for reservations.

Also on Black Friday, we will begin selling reservations at 9:00 am for our annual Sparkling Wine Tasting (we don't sell them before this date). Cost for tickets to this event is $35 per person. The dates for the Sparkling Wine Tasting are December 12th, 13th, and 14th. Each night will be from 6:30 to 9:00 and will be limited to 35 people a night. Call the shop or stop in but remember this event sells out quickly.

Housekeeping notes, we will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd for Thanksgiving. Also, since Christmas is on a Sunday, we will be open but not doing wine tastings. Don’t worry, we will have a special Friday December 22nd tasting.

Brassfield Estates Pinot Gris, California $14.99

Brassfield Estate Winery & Vineyards are in the western section of High Valley at High Serenity Ranch on a truly distinctive and remarkable winegrowing property. The valley floor vineyards sit at 1800 ft. elevation. The higher vineyard blocks rise to nearly 3000 ft. In 1973, Jerry Brassfield purchased the original 1,600 acres as a cattle ranch and wildlife preserve. Over the next three decades Jerry acquired additional contiguous properties. Today, the Brassfield Estate includes over 5,000 acres across both the eastern and the western sections of High Valley, as well as the Round Mountain Volcano. In 1998, the different sections of the ranch were investigated for their potential to produce outstanding estate-grown wines. The vineyard development started in 2001 has grown to a state-of-the-art farming operation as well as our winemaking facility. The westside of the High Valley AVA has been known as “High Serenity Ranch” for over one hundred years. This idyllic site is perfect for growing Pinot Gris.

Banyan Gewurtztraminer, California $14.99

The Hobo Wine Company is the brainchild of Kenny Likitprakong. Kenny grew up at the winery, Domain Saint George, where his father Somchai worked as general manager. He considered several career options, including medicine, film and professional skateboarding before a gig in San Francisco introduced him to wine. Kenny found his first winemaking job in the Santa Cruz mountains in 1999 before starting Hobo Wine Company in 2002. The “Hobo” name refers to Kenny’s winemaking experiences traveling and working place to place. It applies now to the fact that Kenny does not own his own vineyards, but sources fruit from vineyard owners who he has longstanding relationships with around California, some of which he worked with before starting Hobo. Banyan Wines is a father and son project from Somchai and Kenny Likitprakong born out of a mutual passion for Gewurztraminer, their Thai heritage and an idea to combine the two. This is a wonderful that pair well with Asian food.

Argyle Bloomhouse Pinot Noir, Oregon $25.99

Founded in 1987, Argyle quickly stood out as a study in contrasts – honoring the deep traditions of wine and embracing innovation and experimentation; proud to be Oregonian and pulling knowledge and support from winemakers around the world. When Rollin Soles, the founder of Argyle, visited the Willamette Valley in 1979, this spirit of the area was a big part of what he fell in love with. Those were early, pioneering days, and the ethos of Oregon winemaking was already developing. Today, Argyle remains the essential Oregon winery by continuing to embrace the contradictions that make them strong. Argyle Pinot Noir celebrates this dialogue with a simplicity, purity of fruit & silky texture that rewards curiosity & inspires conversations of your own.

Seghesio Zinfandel, California $21.99

At Seghesio Family Vineyards, the key word is family. Their family story starts in 1895, when an Italian immigrant and his new wife planted Zinfandel vines deep in Sonoma soil and set down roots that, five generations and 125 vintages later, are still growing strong. Today, they believe in the importance of family more than ever – the one you’re born into and the one you choose. It’s often said that Zinfandel is the only truly American grape and, in many ways, the Seghesio story is a true reflection of the American dream. Every bottle of Zinfandel they make is a realization of the dreams and aspirations of an Italian immigrant who came to Sonoma County in the late 19th century to build a family and a future. Over the 125 years, the Seghesio family name has become synonymous with the highest quality Zinfandel from Sonoma County.
