As business leaders in our community, we encourage a YES vote on the Cave Creek Unified School District override this November.
Supporting our schools is long overdue. It’s been 15 years since a CCUSD override passed. That’s right 15 years!
So, what will the override do for our schools? It will inject funding straight into the classroom by giving our teachers and staff a pay raise to keep them competitive with neighboring school districts.
In addition to raising teacher and staff salaries, the override will help fund more:
*K-12 Career, Technical and Vocational education
*Advanced Placement, Honors, World Language, JROTC and International Baccalaureate programming
*Special Education and safety support
*And much more
It’s also important to note that if voters approve the override, NONE of the override funding will go to administrator salaries. This override is focused solely on our students and teachers and providing them a better environment to learn and tach.
Having strong schools is part of the economic fabric that enhances our quality of life. When our quality of life improves, we all benefit.
Please vote YES on the CCUSD override to prepare our students for the evolving workforce.

It’s rare to have the opportunity to work somewhere that you can meet new people and have them instantly feel like friends. But that’s exactly what it was during my time at the Chamber of Commerce. I’m lucky to have met each and every one of you. I will miss working with you! I hope will be seeing each other around the neighborhood.
Sincerely,
Colleen Rock

Ah, September, a Month where the Monsoon tapers off and we move to a les humid time. Cooler mornings with hot dry afternoons. The perfect time to get out and enjoy what Cave Creek has to offer. City Creamery is still serving a great selection of locally made Ice Cream. Evening Music in the Creek becomes more enjoyable and as always our Restaurants are serving up great fare. Remember to Shop and Buy Local whenever possible.
Now starting September 1st some parts of Town are likely to hear the discharge of shotguns
as Dove Season opens up. Do not be alarmed as this has nothing to do with Vladimir Putin!
I don't know about you but I can't wait for the November Election to be over, there is just too
much misinformation on the airwaves to suit me. Has everyone lost the ability to see through
what is clearly improbable?
Hopefully we'll find out that Jimmy Buffett was correct when he sang, "when the dust had finally
settled and the air had quickly cleared, things were better off than I had feared".
So, until next Month, hang in there and enjoy Cave Creek to the fullest!

Many in Cave Creek have heard of Fleming Springs Road. It’s a beautiful road that ascends the majestic 4,521-foot Continental Mountain. The road is named after Charles S. Fleming, one of Cave Creek’s pioneers.
The dreaded disease, tuberculosis, brought Charles Fleming to the Arizona Territory in 1876. During the Civil War, Confederate Fleming was fighting and chasing “Bluebellies” through the infectious swamps of Mississippi and Louisiana while riding with the 28th Cavalry Regiment based in Palestine, Texas. He first contracted pneumonia in the swamps and it later developed into tuberculosis, an incurable disease at the time. After moving to Arizona, his health improved in the dry desert air.
Eventually, Fleming built a sturdy rock house on the southwest side of Continental Mountain near a spring which still bears his name. His coveted spring not only facilitated his mining and milling efforts but allowed him to create an oasis which included fruit trees, a variety of vegetables, and enough corn to distill his cherished whiskey. He was a crack-shot and unlucky deer provided jerky which lasted months. Fleming was interviewed by the editor of the Phoenix Daily Herald, a descriptive column was printed in 1893: “Fleming is a tall slender man with clear blue eyes, long thin hair resting on his shoulders with an iron-gray beard…he wore a broad-brimmed felt hat, the front bent upward…the perfect picture of a typical frontiersman… bidding us a hearty welcome to his home…he reads the San Francisco Examiner, the St. Louis Republic, and the Phoenix Daily Herald and is happy, healthy, and nearly sixty-years old.”
On April 6, 1903, the well-read, frail miner died from pneumonia at age seventy. Charles Fleming was buried in a spot he had selected on his cherished Continental Mountain.
