Suicide Prevention Month

What is Suicide Prevention Month?

Suicide Prevention Month is a national awareness campaign that takes place in September. Throughout the month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness. It is a time to share resources, to remember those affected by suicide, to raise awareness, to shift perception, and to focus efforts on directing treatment to those who need it most.

Weill Cornell Medicine Psychiatry hopes to ensure that our communities have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help. Throughout the month of September, Weill Cornell Medicine Psychiatry will share a breadth of resources regarding suicide prevention through guides, events, social media, and more.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a mental health crisis, call or text 988 immediately.
