Dear Families of the MS 104 Community:

Happy Wednesday! I hope this message finds everyone doing well. Last Friday marked the end of marking period one. Marking period one report cards will be distributed next Friday, December 15th. Hard copies of student report cards will be distributed to students to take home. In addition, families will be able to view their child's report cards on their NYC Schools accounts. I congratulate our students on a successful first marking period and encourage them to continue their hard work as we move through marking period two!

Please see some updates and announcements below.

Have a great day!

Sincerely,

Rocco Macri, Principal

Preparation for Pivot to Remote Instruction

New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) are dedicated to ensuring that every student can learn uninterrupted, including during disruptions caused by building closures. To accomplish this goal, we want to make sure that our students and staff are prepared for successful remote learning. NYCPS has developed a practice plan to support and improve schools' readiness in the event a transition to remote learning is necessary. MS104 has been selected to participate in the first round of tech readiness activities on December 6, 2023.

What does that mean for your child?

· In school today, there will be at least one period where the teacher will engage the students in a digital activity to ensure that all students understand how to log on to a device and to their digital accounts.

· In addition to the in-class activity, the teachers will assign a short task for students to complete at home. Please ensure your child completes the digital activity at home.

· If your child does not have access to either a personal internet-enabled device or a NYCPS-issued device at home, be sure to reach out to us to request a device.

If you have any questions, please contact your grade level assistant principal.

Brrr-uch Winter Spirit Week 12/18 through 12/22

As falls turns to winter, its time for our annual Brrr-uch Spirit Week. This is a week that allows students and staff to have a bit of fun as we head in to the holiday break. Beginning Monday, December 18th, each day of the week will be marked by a different theme. Students and staff are encouraged to dress in attire related to the theme of the day. The theme days are as follows:

Monday, 12/18- Pajama Day

Tuesday, 12/19- Sports Jersey Day

Wednesday, 12/20- Twin Day

Thursday, 12/21- Dress Like a Teacher or Student Day

Friday, 12/22- Cozy Sweater Day

In addition, we will have our indoor winter student celebration on Tuesday, December 19th. Each grade will be treated to a variety of fun activities in our cafeteria and gymnasium for ninety minutes each. There will be two photo booths, a DJ, arts and crafts, and table top and large games for students to enjoy. As always, events such as these require much support for our families in order to facilitate a safe and structured day. Our PTA will be sending out the volunteer sign up link. I hope that you will consider volunteering some of your time to help us provide our students the best and safest possible celebration possible.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership!
