Dear Friends,
In celebration of our nation's birthday - our mission and work continues - to protect the environmental and public health of children and families.
We are in the midst of great public health and social challenges. We are committed to meet these challenges by conducting policy-relevant research to inform needed actions, for a healthy city, nation and world.
Wishing you all had a Happy July 4th!
*In solidarity & peace with Ukraine

Air Pollution and Climate Change Take a Growing Toll on Children's Health, June 15, 2022
A New England Journal of Medicine article reviews the evidence on the large and growing toll of air pollution and fossil fuel-driven climate change on children. Frederica Perera of Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health and Kari Nadeau of the Stanford University School of Medicine write that protecting children’s health requires that health professionals understand the multiple harms to children from climate change and air pollution and use available strategies to reduce these harms.

As Pennsylvania Gubernatorial Candidates Push More Gas Production, Report Collects Studies That Show Fracking Harms
In an article in State Impact Pennsylvania, Dr. Joan Casey said the compendium provides ample evidence of a link between fracking and air pollution with harmful particulate matter and volatile organic compounds and welcomed the evidence of a link between fracking and climate change. “We must act on climate now and continuing to pull more fossil fuels out of the ground hinders that effort,” she said.

This June, EHJ Advocates met for Self-Assessment Day to review program objectives, define projects and deliverables. The first EHJ Newsletter was also sent to our partnering youth organizations and CCCEH youth study cohorts highlighting the past year's activities.
We are proud to boast a 60% open rate. The youth are engaged!!
EHJ Advocates expect to produce a bi-annual newsletter to inform and engage local youth on EHJ issues and activities, particularly those critical to children's environmental health. Cheers to Yesibel Pimentel, EHJ Advocates' Intern, editor in chief, for seeing this through.

Help us create a world in which every child has a healthy start.
The Center’s research is powering action to reduce the impacts of climate change, air pollution, and toxic chemicals on children and families.
Your support is yielding both immediate and long-term benefits to children’s health today and in the future. Your gift will protect the gains that we have achieved together.
