August Poll Results: Split (kind of) Decision

Why We Love College Football

It's September - grab your pumpkin-spiced latte, Peter Millar sweater vest, and gather ‘round the TV for our favorite professional sports league - College Football. We're rolling-up FOUR lesser known traditions that remind us why we love this great sport:

  1. Florida State University - Sod Cemetery: Since 1962, after each underdog road victory, triumph over the Gators, or claiming the ACC championship – the team captain cuts out a piece of sod from the game field and takes it back home to Tallahassee to be buried in the Sod Cemetery. Stealing sod is not how they earned their famous felonious nickname.
  2. University of Pennsylvania - Toast Toss: What UPenn may lack on the field, their fans can make up for with their unique toast-throwing tradition. During each home game, students throw between 20k - 30k pieces of toast onto the field before the fourth quarter, when the line “Here’s a toast to dear old Penn” from the school's fight song is played. In the past, students would toast their adult beverages, but with the University banning alcohol consumption at the stadium, leave it to college students to do what they do best - improvise... and the tradition has stuck ever since.
  3. Texas Tech - Tortilla Toss: Following the opening kick-off for home games, Texas Tech students throw thousands of tortillas onto the field. Having survived numerous fines and failed attempts to ban the practice by the NCAA, the tortilla-throwing will be in full force this fall. The fans love it so much that it's become a thing to do at basketball games, too - you may remember a tortilla being thrown onto the court during the Men's Basketball National Championship game in 2019 when Texas Tech played Virginia... just another day for Red Raider fans.
  4. University of Iowa - Mind Games: Everyone is always looking to get an edge, including Iowa’s former football coach, Haden Fry. Fry, a psychology major in undergrad, believed in the emotional effects of color, so he had the university paint the visitors' locker room pink. To do this day, visitors who play Iowa still face a pink locker room. When asked about the effectiveness of the tactic Fry said, “When I talk to an opposing coach before a game and he mentions the pink walls, I know I’ve got him. I can’t recall a coach who has stirred up a fuss about the color and then beat us.”

Was There Any Hanky/Lanky Involved?

What may be most remarkable about Trump's claim that he shot 67 is not that this is 10 shots less than his age, but rather it is 24 shots fewer than the number of criminal indictments he currently is facing! So what do you think....

Was any "hanky/lanky" involved in Trump's self-proclaimed round of 67?
