The Lenten season, from Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday, is a time for reflection on God’s great love for us and God’s great call on us to faithful and liberating discipleship. For years, this time has been seen as a time for deeper devotion and strengthening our individual and corporate spiritual practice.
Join us during the 40-day Lenten season (March 5 - April 20) as we reflect on the power of the Cross through an intentional time of reflection and devotion.

Grief Share
Sundays Following Worship
J. Alfred Smith, Sr. Fellowship Hall
New Start Date • Sunday, May 18
|
If you've experienced the loss of a loved one, you're not alone—and you don’t have to navigate grief by yourself. Beginning Sunday, May 18 (new start date), the Grief Ministry invites you to join Grief Share, a 13-week support group designed to help you process your loss and find hope for the days ahead.
Held immediately after worship in the J. Alfred Smith Fellowship Hall, Grief Share is a safe, welcoming space where you’ll find understanding, comfort, and practical tools to cope with the ups and downs of grief. Together, we’ll explore what’s “normal” in grief, how to handle difficult emotions, and ways to find healing—one step at a time.
There’s no cost to join—just bring your time, your heart, and your openness to healing. Share with those in your life who would benefit from healing in community.

The Deaconess Ministry serves members by providing spiritual care and acts of mercy. We assist and cooperate with the Pastors and Deacons Ministry with visiting the sick, needy, and distressed members of the church. The ministry provides support to bereaved families and new members. In doing so, we assist the Pastors in developing the spiritual life of members through precept and example. Each month, the Deaconess Ministry prepares for the corporate observance of the ordinances of the Church – Communion and Baptism.
If you or someone you know would make an excellent candidate with a heart to serve, please feel free to leave a message for Deaconess Chair S. Jamila Buckner via the Church office at 510-544- 8910 or email here.
Thank you in advance for your prayerful consideration!
