Saudações from CVJHP!

We hope our Christian friends had a wonderful Christmas celebration. As 2023 comes to a close, please "Save the Date"-- March 6, 2024. This is when CVJHP, in conjunction with the GOCV and CMP (Praia City Hall), will hold a ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the restoration of the Sephardic Jewish cemetery in Várzea.

The unveiling of commemorative plaques will highlight the occasion. We thank H.E. Jorge Santos, Minister of Cabo Verdean Diaspora/Comunidades (above L), Jorge Pires, chief of staff (M), and architect Fernando Santos (R), for their cooperation in planning for the upcoming ceremony at which we will welcome local and foreign dignitaries and descendants. We are delighted to inform that Ruben Suiza, rabbi of the Jewish community in Lisbon (CIL), has confirmed his participation in the ceremony! Thanks to Praia Mayor Francisco Carvalho (Presidente da Câmara Municipal de Praia) for his invaluable collaboration as well. Like Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, Vice Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Olavo Correia, strongly supports CVJHP's efforts to preserve Jewish heritage in Cabo Verde.
