This past week our 8th graders had the opportunity due to grants to attend a free field trip to the Orange County Regional History Center. Our 8th graders got to dive into history and the past of central Florida. Our students got to participate in a mock trial and also got to create art in the style of the Florida Highwaymen. After speaking to many students who attended, hearing about their experience and the impact the visit had showed the importance of providing our students with the opportunity to interact with history. Many of the 8th grade U.S. history standards were covered during this field trip.

This past week Progress Reports also became available on Skyward. If you have not done so, please log into your Parent Skyward account and review your student's progress report.

As we enter into a new week we will have two soccer games. One home on Monday against Timber Springs Middle and one away at Wedgefield. Next week we will also be holding our first spirit week of the school year in recognition for Start with Hello Week. I want to encourage all our Jets to participate in our different theme days. The scholastic book fair will also open on Thursday in our Media Center. Students received or will receive flyers during library orientation.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Thank you,

Mr. Jiménez

Continuous Teacher Training
Deliberate Practice
Last week Legacy teachers met with our Instructional Coach, Mrs. Bourkova, and discussed deliberate practice. Deliberate practice is an instructional area teachers want to focus on and grow this year.
* Deliberate practice refers to a special type of practice that is purposeful and systematic. While regular practice might include mindless repetitions, deliberate practice requires focused attention and is conducted with the specific goal of improving performance.

Calling the School
At times when we receive more calls than open phone lines, you may experience a 'call transfer to nowhere.' Your call is important to us, which is why we created this new feature to decrease the time between phone call latency and feedback. Our workaround is to have you contact the school using the QR code below. The QR code is linked to a form that notifies us directly when you submit an inquiry. Give it a try during our peak call times (mornings, lunch, dismissal) and let us know what you think!
