Systems Change in the Workforce

with remarks from Incept CEO Sam Falletta

Systems change in workforce development is the collective efforts of employers, workers, talent developers, and other stakeholders. It asks those in the work to go beyond traditional models of workforce development. Incept has received numerous awards for its innovative business practices and its positive workplace culture. TE will be at this forum in the City Club's new home at Playhouse Square to be part of the third annual Deborah Vesy Systems Change Champion Award forum, in partnership with the Deaconess Foundation, and learn how to bring about the systems change needed to help workers advance in their careers.

WKYC MAKES NEWS FOR A FAN!

Laura Desmond is a consultant for Towards Employment and attended the Chance to Advance event in June 2023. She purchased a gift for her family that was priceless. Pictured in the center is Jack Desmond and his family along with Laura Caso, member of the WKYC anchor team.

This summer, a WKYC Cleveland tour exceeded every expectation, thanks to Micki Byrnes, President, and General Manager. Micki donated a private tour of WKYC for the Towards Employment auction and Laura, Jack and the Desmond family enjoyed a true “red-carpet experience.”

Laura shared their story:

“After winning this auction item, I knew that I would invite my son Jack, born four months early who has been blind since birth. Jack was an announcer for the Shaker Heights High and Shaker Youth All-Star Baseball teams and was so hopeful he would get to meet one of his heroes, Jim Donovan...

A Towards Employment Blogcast

Every quarter, Brian Balogh - TE Policy Fellow and retired professor and award-winning cohost of a public radio show - interviews TE graduates and staff about interesting workforce topics. Brian combines written text, live words, his research and community resources in simple stories for friends and supporters of workforce to share.

Segment 1: Job Quality – What makes a “good job?” Hear a recent graduate and a career coach talk about what they are looking for in a career.

Segment 2: Second Sentence – In Ohio roughly 1 out of 4 jobs is blocked or restricted by 850 laws that limit opportunities for people who have already served their time. Read about this second sentence from graduates and staff.

Segment 3: Expungements - Coming in November! On April 4, 2023, Ohio Senate Bill 288 went into effect. It expands eligibility for expunging or sealing criminal records. Stay tuned as Brian sits down with TE Attorney Mark Gallagher and a graduate who benefited from legal services in this next segment.
