Stories of Stewardship: Bill Clary

FPC Covington is the focal point and center of my spiritual life in Covington and has been during the past ten plus years. Since losing my job due to a reduction in force during Covid, my financial resources have been limited, so in addition to giving what I can, I endeavor to participate and volunteer.

In this regard I sing in the Chancel Choir and participate in the Faith Foundation, health, and worship committees as well as attending Lunch Bunch, Men’s Prayer Breakfasts, Neeley’s Tuesday Bible Study (Lectio Divina) and the newly formed Sunday School group (WirdWORD) that meets in the gathering room Sunday mornings. Finally, I volunteer to help with any German Language needs that may arise. While measurable time is required for all this, I have been richly rewarded and strongly recommend that any regular attendees consider joining FPC to more fully benefit from fellowship and participation.

Time & Talent Ministry Spotlight!

We have kicked off our Stewardship Season! Throughout this season we will be taking time to consider "Where Our Treasure Is" while planning on where we will spend our time, talent, and treasure in 2024.

To help everyone better understand the ministry opportunities we have at FPC, we will be going through our Time & Talent and laying out what different ministries do. Today we start with an overview of each session and diaconate ministry area!

We have begun our search for a Director of Music and Worship Arts! Please visit fpccov.org/employment-opportunities for the full job listing and learn how to apply.

Our Personnel Team search committee has started the process of reaching out to applicants but if you know someone who still wants to apply tell them we will still accept it if they send in their application as soon as possible!

Our WiredWORD class meets in the Gathering Room which is on the upper floor, through the Fireplace Room and near the restrooms. This room is sometimes referred to as "the old choir room" or "the old sanctuary" by long-time members. This class explores current events and discusses how our faith intersects and informs our response.

Our Foundations Sunday School meets in the Adult Classroom which is on lower floor classroom wing at the end of the hall way on the left. This class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, taught by a rotation of teachers.

Youth Sunday School meets in the Youth Classroom which is on the lower floor classroom wing. It is the first classroom on the left, past the restrooms. The class explores the lectionary scriptures each week, often as they relate to the weekly sermon.

Children's Sunday School meets in the Children's Classroom which is the second door on the right of the lower floor classroom wing. Children learn about God's love through the bible, play, and song.

Neeley’s Notions is an email offering that gives Neeley the chance to start a conversation about the inspirations and influences she thinks about while writing her weekly sermon. The email will be sent on Friday mornings when the Spirit leads, and you can reply to the email with your thoughts and stories for Neeley to read.

People to Think About this Week

This week we celebrate the fun Faith Formation had with our FPC Kids last week during our pumpkin painting party!

The pumpkins turned out wonderfully and a great time was had by all. Next week some of our FPC Youth will go Reverse Trick-or-Treating to deliver these pumpkins to some of our homebound friends. Don't forget to let Erin know if your FPC Youth will be joining us!
