Thank you to those who attended the California Housing Consortium’s 2022 Policy Forum and Housing Hall of Fame Awards in Los Angeles on September 8th.

CHC’s Executive Director Ray Pearl started the day welcoming close to 250 attendees from across the housing sector. Ray introduced our Guest Speaker, California Speaker of the Assembly Anthony Rendon, to the podium where he spoke on his commitment to advance affordable housing bills. The Speaker shared his thoughts on this legislative session and spoke on the urgency of building affordable housing in the state. In particular, Speaker Rendon shared his support for AB 2011 (Wicks), the Affordable Housing and High Road Jobs Act which is headed to the Governor’s desk where he will either sign or veto by September 30th. As the Speaker concluded his speech, Ray presented him with a Housing Hall of Fame Award for his contribution in the affordable housing space.

The program resumed with a Q & A with Cedric Bobo, CEO and co-founder of Project Destined, led by CHC board member, Lisa Gutierrez from US Bank. Cedric shared his organization’s mission to transform minority youth into owners and stakeholders in the communities in which they live, work and play. Project Destined recruits college students across the country for internships, where they receive training on real estate and digital marketing while collaborating with industry professionals. Through the organization, the guidance of its leadership team, mentorship and training, Project Destined seeks to produce the nation's largest number of minority owners of real estate.

It was a privilege to honor this year’s distinguished group of inductees into the California Housing Hall of Fame. This year we are pleased to recognize the following affordable housing industry champions: Speaker Anthony Rendon, Carol Galante, Mary Kaiser, and Robin Hughes

Robin Hughes formerly served on CHC's Board of Directors. Robin was recently named CEO of the Housing Partnership Network.

Mary Kaiser is on the CHC Board of Directors and is President and CEO of the California Community Reinvestment Corporation.

Carol Galante formerly served on CHC's Board of Directors. She is the Founder and Advisor of the Terner Center for Housing Innovation at UC Berkeley and the Housing Lab.

During our 25th anniversary, we are fortunate to have the support of our phenomenal group of sponsors. We sincerely appreciate your contributions and look forward to having you all back in 2023.
