Funding the Mission

For generations, Nazarenes have supported the World Evangelism Fund. Working together, we accomplish so much as the Body of Christ. Become a part of missions work and partner with the Church of the Nazarene to make Christlike disciples in the nations. In the Funding the Mission plan, the World Evangelism Fund is the vehicle through which we deliver the message of hope - and your church drives that mission.

NMI Calendar 2022-2023

107 Years of NMI

On October 8, 1915, NMI was officially recognized on the global level of the Church of the Nazarene. Every local church was encouraged to organize and establish the Woman’s Missionary Society (WMS), as we were first known, to “increase knowledge and interest in missions by prayer, by scheduling special missions speakers, by keeping in touch with the missionaries, and to cooperate with the local church board in raising their apportionments [budgets] for missions.” Happy 107th Birthday, NMI!

Dominican Republic

Urgent request for help! Let’s pull together, NWIL District, to fulfill as many of these needs as possible! Thanks so much for your efforts in this matter! Ron Jansen, NWIL President

Friends,

A lot of you are aware we had a hurricane pass over the Eastern part of the Dominican Republic. Widespread damage, massive flooding (18" of rain) power outages and food shortages are occurring. We have reports of Nazarene Churches and Pastors homes with widespread damage, including some roofs totally blown off as seen in the video below. (The church in the video is an approved Work and Witness Project that we have visited.)

These churches are close to our hearts and we would love to support them in any way we can. Some of the churches have worked so hard and invested so much on their own building their churches and into their communities.

Our friends at Nazarene Compassionate Ministries are on the ground assisting with the essentials of food, water, bedding etc. In addition, all Nazarene churches are collecting donations to be given to relief efforts in east.

However, our ministry, Work and Witness is tasked with supporting the local churches and pastor‘s homes in the rebuilding efforts. The fact is that we do not have a budget for disasters, so we rely on individuals and churches when disaster strikes. There is a large immediate need but with your help we can make it happen!

If you feel led to give now towards repair of roofs and structures, please reach out to us. Our team is currently mobilizing. But we need help purchasing materials and hiring skilled labor to rebuild.

Here are some specific ways you can give.

$10 - Buys 100 screws for fastening panels to structure. (We need 50 supporters to fulfill this need)

$25 - Buys 1 gallon of anti-corrosive paint for the structural steel. (We need 10 supporters to fulfill this need)

$50 - Buys 1 medium structural steel support. (We need 50 supporters to fulfill this need)

$100 - Buys one metal roof panel (We need 30 supporters to fulfill this need)

$500 - Buys two large structural steel supports. (We need 10 supporters to fulfill this need)

$2,500 - Buys 33% of the skilled labor to assist in the rebuild of 4 churches and pastor homes. (We need 3 people to fulfill this need)

$5,000 - Buys 50% of the block and cement needed to rebuild walls and columns. (Need 2 supporters)

Thank you in advance for your generosity!

Please contact us in one of the ways below if you would like to give.

In just under one year, Nazarenes from around the world will gather in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, for the 30thGeneral Assembly and Conventions.

“It is a great time to come together as a family to worship and celebrate that Jesus is Lord,” General Superintendent Carla Sunberg said.

This will be the seventh time Indianapolis has hosted General Assembly, most recently in 2017. Additional visits to the Hoosier State occurred in 2013, 2005, 2001, 1993, and 1989.

The theme of this year’s General Assembly is “Jesus is Lord,” which will be woven into the five corporate worship services and the quadrennial address during the assembly. The Board of General Superintendents will examine how the theme influences all facets of the Church of the Nazarene’s mission to make Christlike disciples in the nations.

The speakers and service schedule are as follows:

  • June 9th - Friday PM: Missions - Eugenio Duarte
  • June 10th- Saturday PM: Discipleship – Gustavo Crocker
  • June 11th – Sunday AM: Worship – David Graves
  • June 11th – Sunday PM: Evangelism – David Busic
  • June 12th – Monday AM: Quadrennial Address – Carla Sunberg
  • June 12th – Monday PM: Compassion – Fili Chambo

Church Multiplication Endowment Fund

Give a GIFT that doesn't stop Giving!

Would you give $1.00 a month if it never stopped giving, never wore out, never changed its usefulness or purpose and transformed lives?

The Church Multiplication Endowment Fund is designed to reach unreached people living on the NWIL District for Christ. Every dollar given will continue to give in perpetuity. An endowment fund uses the interest from the principle to do kingdom work.  Will you help fund this goal?

Currently, our district property funds have been invested in planting 22 new churches these past three years and the district is in need of capital to continue to plant more! We need your help. Presently, there are 36 more potential church plants in various stages of planning which will require additional funding support.

Would you consider a GIFT of $1.00 a month?  We are not trying to take money from your local ministry where you give your tithes and offerings. We are asking for many to give a little.  Our initial goal is 5,000 giving at least $1.00 a month. Would you be one of those 5,000 making a commitment to create a movement to plant churches that change lives?  Here are ways to give:

  • You can give to your local church by marking your check or cash gift "NWIL CM Endowment" and your church treasurer will take it from there.
  • You can also choose to give online if you want to set up one time or reoccurring payments using debit/credit/Electronic Check on the district website at nwilnaz.org/GIVE/ On District Church Planting or direct  CM Endowment Giving LINK. Or scan this QR code at the bottom of this article.
  • You can send a check or cash to NWIL District, 3520 Broadway St., Pekin, IL 61554 (please indicate CM Endowment on check memo)

We are also looking for those who might like to make greater kingdom investments!

You can give cash, stocks, bonds, real estate, livestock, grain, or other personal property.  Basically, any asset of marketable value can be used to help fund this endowment. There are also charitable gift annuity options that allow you to specify the endowment fund or another ministry of your choice while allowing you to receive income for your lifetime and when you pass, your gift goes to the endowment fund or specified ministry. CLICK HERE  to see other ways to model generosity. Gifts can be given in memory or in honor of someone.

Large or small: Why not leave a lasting legacy that lasts more than your lifetime.
