Wednesday Chapel Services:

Services are held every Wednesday at 8:20 am at Zion Lutheran Church. Visitors are welcome to attend! Our Chapel Services are streamed on the MLS Facebook page.

Chapel offerings for the 2nd quarter will go to Orphan Grain Train (OGT), specifically helping victims in the Ukraine at this time.

Martin Luther School is holding a

Read-a-thon this year!

Read-A-Thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more! Our Read-A-Thon starts Friday January 12th and will run through January 26th. Your child received a handout this Friday with information about the Read-A-Thon program. The Read-A-Thon program is multi-faceted. It helps to get our students excited about reading, offers incentives for reading, shares the mission of MLS with friends and family as it is also a fundraiser for our school.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on or going to https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/323738303537/1 and following the simple instructions.

This is where you will be able to view and record their progress. The process is very simple. (Mrs. Wolfgram tried it out and registered her dog, Jasper. It was a piece of cake! :) ) From the funds raised, we will tithe (give one tenth) to support our chapel offering recipient for the 3rd quarter, Lutheran Family Service.

We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

(For the record, Jasper can't read. He can barely follow directions of any kind.)

NATIONAL LUTHERAN SCHOOLS WEEK

January 21-28

National Lutheran Schools Week is a special time when we celebrate the blessing of Lutheran education with congregations and schools all across the country. Our theme this year is "Connected," based on John 15:1-5 where Jesus states, “I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing."

We will keep you informed next week with a complete list of special dress up days that help us enjoy this festive week. Please take note of three events that include you as a family to help us celebrate!

· Annual Family Breakfast Tuesday, January 23 beginning at 7:30-8:00 AM in the MLS lunchroom. This will be a pajama day!
· 2^nd Annual MLS Family White Elephant Bingo Night, Friday, January 25, 6:30 PM. Feel free bring a white elephant type of gift or two that we can use as prizes. A sign up for snacks will be sent electronically. Watch for this in the Purple Notes to follow.
· Hymnfest Celebration Sunday, January 28^th 3:00
Our Bismarck Mandan Lutheran School Association congregations will join our MLS students in a celebration of music and fellowship! The program to begin at 3:00 with fellowship and supper to follow. You will not want to miss the GREAT MUSIC that your kids will help provide!! We are SO EXCITED for this!

Student Photo Retakes

Those parents requesting student portrait retakes will have the opportunity on Tuesday, January 30th at MLS and the 31st at Shepherd of the Valley Preschool. Just an FYI, a screen/backdrop will be used as a background for these portraits.

We will take the annual ALL SCHOOL PHOTO in the Zion sanctuary including all of our preschools on Friday, January 26th at MLS. Individual class photos will also be retaken that day.
