OPEN ENROLLMENT ENDS IN TWO WEEKS!

Welcome to the new year! We hope the start of 2024 has been great and that you are making the most of a fresh start.

To help people get out on the right foot, we are emphasizing the fact that we're in the final weeks of open enrollment. The health insurance marketplace was created so more people could afford health coverage, and the open enrollment period is when most individuals sign up. For most people, this will be their last chance to sign up for marketplace health insurance until November 2024.

The deadline to sign up is Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024, which means people wanting free assistance from Enroll Wyoming should reach out before then. We are available to help families review options and enroll in quality health coverage for 2024. Just visit enrollwyo.org or call 211 to make an in-person, virtual, or telephone appointment before Jan. 16.

HOW TO SET REASONABLE RESOLUTIONS

Happy New Year! This 2024, set sustainable resolutions. Below are some resolution tips. Above all, remember to be patient and kind with yourself in this time of change.

Exercise

-- Start your goal with working out 1-2 days a week and slowly add more (if you choose) as you integrate exercise into your schedule.

-- Try to find a gym on your way to work to make it easier to add exercise to your routine.

-- Start easy! Progress is slow, but it will come with perseverance.

Diet

-- More subtle changes such as adding more whole foods or vegetables to your diet may be a less overwhelming starting point than a complete overhaul.

-- Drinking an extra glass of water a day can have a huge effect on health! If plain water isn’t your favorite, you can carbonate it or add juice for flavor.

Health

-- While we encourage you to visit your doctor regularly, we also acknowledge that is not always feasible. Maintaining your health is more important for those who do not routinely see their doctors.

-- Small changes such as prioritizing a regular sleep schedule or taking small breaks to walk around can improve physical and mental health.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN INSURANCE AND HEALTH CARE SHARING MINISTRIES?

There are many options when it comes to paying for health care, and it is important to know the differences, including the pros and cons.

An increasing number of people in Wyoming are turning to health care sharing ministries and similar plans. The National Association of Insurance Commissioners recently released a report that stresses that these plans are not the same as health insurance and may not offer the same coverage or protections as marketplace health plans.

To learn more about health care sharing ministries, we also recommend this impact report from the Wyoming Department of Insurance and this segment from Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
