Dear Rondout Families and Faculty,
Hope you are well and enjoying these beautiful summer days. We are busy preparing for the start of the new school year. Our construction projects are moving forward and we are on target for reopening with a few workarounds in place to deal with some supply chain challenges. A big shout out goes to our custodial team, Mr. Danny, Mr. Nestor and Ms. Katya who are navigating through the construction zones and working on getting their summer cleaning and maintenance projects done.
The Rondout Garden is flourishing and we made out first donations to the North Chicago Community Partners Care Closet this afternoon. We are encouraging volunteers to join us for our weekly "Garden Parties" for harvesting and light weeding. These next two weeks we will also have our volunteers planting onions and potatoes for autumn harvesting.
Garden Party Dates are listed in the chart below. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We also welcome donations of produce from your gardens or local Farmer's Markets. We have established a system for donation pick up and deadlines for drop off of produce are also listed below. Families are also welcome to harvest produce for their own families use as well.
Hope to see our families at these upcoming garden activities. Please park at the east end of the north parking for our volunteers with cones so that you can easily find a spot near the garden. We encourage you to RSVP if you plan to attend a garden party so we can prepare for our volunteers. However, if you find that you are at the last minute you are more than welcome to join us.
We are excited about the plans for the year ahead and look forward to sharing with families in the weeks ahead. We are working on plans for a memorable year ahead with many special events and new learning opportunities. School resumes for students in six weeks on August 29th. Parent Teacher Intake Conferences will be available in person and via Zoom. Sign up information will be sent out later this month.
Hope you and your enjoy the remaining days of summer. We look forward to seeing you soon. Take care..be safe...Until next time...
