COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS

Join us for Mass on Wednesday, September 20 at 2:15 PM

Thank you to all who joined us last week for our first Mass of the 2023-2024 school year. It is a blessing for us to gather and worship together as a community. Click here to view photos from the Mass.

All are invited to attend our next Mass on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 2:15 PM in the gym.

Friendly Reminder: Carpool Line begins on Link Valley Drive

Remember to use Link Valley Drive to queue up for the carpool line. This prevents the line from backing up on Timberside Drive and extending towards the 610 freeway.

If you do enter Timberside from the freeway, please DO NOT jump the line. Turn down Link Valley to join the end of the line forming there.

INSIDE THE CLASSROOMS

For a glimpse of what's happening inside (and sometimes outside) our classrooms, click on the image above.

This week's installment features two of Ms. Hannah's Lower Elementary children on a Going Out to Space Center Houston. "Going Out" is the term used to describe excursions outside of school taken by small groups of students. Activities may include visiting the grocery store to purchase items for the class cooking day or to a location where students can research a topic of interest. Going Outs begin at the Lower Elementary level as the Montessori experience expands beyond the classroom environments.

ADVANCING THE MISSION

Hello St. Catherine’s Community,

As you know, September is SCM Annual Fund month. Since launching the drive on Friday, we have already received almost $42,000 in gifts and pledges! Thank you to the generous donors who are leading the way this school year. We are grateful for your dedication to the Fund’s motto, Every Family for Every Child.

Our goal for 23-24 is to reach $200,000 in commitments and 100% participation from parents, faculty/staff, and board members by Saturday, September 30. Those who pledge have until April 30, 2024 to complete all pledge payments.

Additionally, this year we are pleased to introduce The 1966 Society – the SCM Annual Fund’s new leadership donor recognition society. Named in honor of our founding year, it comprises donors who make an annual fund gift of $1,966 or more. Members will receive an invitation to attend a reception hosted the following fall.

Thank you again to everyone who has given their support. Your gifts have an enormous impact on every member of our school community.

ICYMI: A Message from the Sociables Chairs

Hello St. Catherine’s,

Our community is filled with interesting people of all backgrounds, but how can you get to know them better? You can start by attending a Sociable! Sociables are parent-hosted events that build community at St. Catherine’s, and we are your 23-24 chairs.

Events can be planned for specific levels (Infant Community-High School), for entire families, or for adults only. Planning can be as simple as booking a bowling alley and covering the cost of food, or as elaborate as hosting a party in your home.

The Sociables schedule will be finalized by September 22, and we are looking for volunteer hosts and ideas for events. If you don't have an idea but want to host something, let us know! All are invited to participate, and no idea is a bad idea!

Some returning favorites are already on the schedule, and we are actively seeking hosts for some ideas:

  • Swiftie Soirée
  • AC Cartoon Flashback

Email us at [email protected] to discuss hosting and to share your ideas. We can also help connect you with potential co-hosts.

Sociables tickets will go on sale at the kickoff party on Thursday, October 12. This adults-only event will take place on campus from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. You’ll be able to purchase your Sociables tickets for the year while sipping a drink and having a nosh. Mark your calendars and let’s get to planning!

We are excited for another great year of Sociables. Send us an email and look for us at the PSO Welcome Back Event this Friday, September 8.

Your Sociables Chairs,

Molly Martin
