The Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is an 10-hour, self-paced e-learning course that provides a visual introduction to the financial markets. The BMC consists of 4 modules - Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Incomes, and Equities.
All UConn students are able to complete the Bloomberg Market Concepts e-certification course from their laptop or home computer. No remote or in-person access to the Bloomberg terminals is necessary.

Interested in an in-depth look into the Asset Management Industry? Join Course Instructor Bob Sherman, a former CEO and 30+ year veteran of the Institutional Asset Management Industry, in learning more about the following:
- How major departments fit together into a cohesive business
- Investigate various marketing & client service models
- Examine ownership structures, alignment of interests and compensation schemes
- Understand how different types of asset managers get paid
- Learn about active vs passive investing, smart beta, factor investing and ESG

FNCE 4895/MENT 4895 is a 3-credit course that occurs biweekly on Fridays from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. This class is open only to Business students of sophomore or higher status.

The BUILD Hartford course provides students a “real-world” opportunity to hone their business storytelling skills through the contextual lens of Hartford’s business and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Students work with a wide range of individuals and organizations throughout the city to create innovative projects and develop new opportunities to aid in Hartford's development.
Students will analyze the past, present, and future of the Hartford entrepreneurial landscape, and deliver dynamic business stories that offer insights aimed to drive the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders. We are looking for students who have a passion for business, storytelling, producing fun and unique digital content, learning about business ecosystems, and the history and future of business in Hartford.

Rory McGloin, Ph.D. brings his passion and experience as a business communication expert to the spring Build course with an eye towards helping students develop critical thinking and storytelling skills that will allow them to apply their own perspectives to the pursuit of engaging with the Hartford business ecosystem in new and unique ways. Rory will guide students through the past, present, and future of the Hartford business ecosystem and create opportunities for students to create their own content that aims to help move the city forward, while maintaining a clear understanding of how its history has shaped its modern day opportunities.

Explore Your Career Path with Parker Dewey | |
Micro-Internships are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable Career Launchers to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build their networks as they seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, micro-internships can take place year-round, typically runs 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off.

Enhance Your Tech Skills with OPIM Innovate | |
OPIM Innovate's lab research specialists have identified 10 fields of emerging technologies, which are broken down across 10 learning blocks within the lab. Each learning block contains 3 tech tracks, each of which focuses on a specific technology within that emerging tech sector. Each tech track contains 3 tech kits which are further broken down into three different difficulty tiers: beginner, intermediate and advanced. Each tech kit is self-guided and meant to be completed within 30 – 60 minutes.
