Blessing of the Stuffed Animals

This Sunday, 8:00 & 10:30 AM Services

In honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, children of all ages (and children at heart) are invited to bring a stuffed animal to church this Sunday to be blessed during announcements at the 8:00 or 10:30 AM services. All animals were loved by St. Francis, just as we know your stuffed animals are loved by you!

Blessing of the Animals

This Sunday, 2:00 PM on the Plaza

In addition to having your stuffed animals blessed, you also have an opportunity to get your pets blessed on the Plaza at 2:00 PM this Sunday. We will have a brief 25-minute liturgy followed by a special blessing for each animal in honor of St. Francis of Assisi. All are welcome!

October Outreach: Three Opportunities to Give

As we move toward the holiday season, those in need are ever more in our hearts and minds. There are three wonderful outreach opportunities being organized this month for your consideration.

Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build: October 14

This Interfaith Build brings together volunteers from a variety of different backgrounds, beliefs, and faiths to work together in unity to build affordable homes. St. Mike's volunteers will be paired with a team from a different belief tradition to work, share lunch, and enjoy time together. No experience is necessary, and there are two shifts available from which to choose: 8:30 -12:00 and 12:45 - 4:30. To learn more about this event and the future homeowner or to sign up, click below.

Gloves, Hats & Scarves Drive: October 15 & 22

Each year St. Michael's Outreach Committee collects new hats, gloves/mittens, scarves, and ear warmers for those in need in the Pike's Peak area, specifically schools in D-20, D-11, and Harrison D-2. This year our drive will run from Sunday, October 15 through Sunday, October 22, so please drop off your items in the basket in the Gathering Space during this time. If you can help with the delivery, please contact Pam Morton at Panda77770@outlook.com.

Child Enrichment Center Snack Ministry

The Child Enrichment Center (CEC) is a part of the Colorado House transitional housing facility through Partners in Housing (PIH).

Children of homeless families attend the CEC while their parents receive services, take classes, or seek employment. St. Michael’s Snack Ministry volunteers are scheduled to either buy and deliver healthy snacks or donate money to buy snacks for these children one or two weeks of the year. This ministry is important, easy, and rewarding; and it needs you! For more information or to join, please contact Judy Morrill at 719 650-0245 or j_l_morrill@msn.com.

Attention Newcomers!

Join Us for Newcomers Class & Newcomers Lunch

Newcomers are encouraged to participate in two upcoming events to become better connected to the St. Michael's community. First, next Sunday, October 15th at 9:15 AM is our monthly Newcomer Class in the Chapel. This month's topic is The Episcopal Church 101. Then the following Sunday, October 22, is our special Newcomer Lunch with the clergy, staff, and other newcomers following the 10:30 AM service from 11:45-1:00 pm. Contact our Newcomer Coordinator, Linda Kean at linda@stmikeschurch.com with any questions. All are welcome, but we do ask for a lunch RSVP for planning purposes.

Art Theology Retreat

Exploring the Colors of Divine Love

Saturday, Oct. 28, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

This day-long retreat, facilitated by special guest, Angela Hummel, will focus on exploring our ideas of God and divine love through "color thinking." Angela is a member of St. Johns Cathedral in Denver and a DMin student at Iliff school of Theology where she is working on her color thinking project. Color thinking creates opportunities for us to connect, rather than argue about, our various ideas of God as well as deepen our relationship to God, others, and ourselves. Please click below for more detailed information and to register.
