Hope in Crisis

Dear Ministry Partners,

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! The Lord has been merciful to the ministry. The area leaders and family members are doing well in their daily routines.

Last month, one pastor started a training class in northwest Myanmar, which Pastor T oversees. This area is very remote, and it is difficult to transport goods there. Due to a lack of internet access, photos are not available at this time.

A powerful earthquake hit Myanmar with a magnitude of 7.7 on March 28, causing immediate losses of life and property. It was a nightmare. Praise the Lord that CCI staff and students did not have any loss of life. However, church buildings that house CCI classes have been damaged or destroyed.

On March 30, my two daughters and I attended a one-day seminar on emergency response to bring the best hope and help to the victims. It helped us see more opportunities. Then, we formed a team of churches and started raising funds within the churches and beyond to reach more people. God favors our steps.

With the donations of His people, we went there for three days. We gave money to 100 injured people directly at the hospital, rice and cooking oil to 300 affected families, and some money to one orphanage center and three churches for their church building and victims.

Thousands have lost their homes, properties, and loved ones, leaving them in pain and misery. Small-scale earthquakes followed for days afterward. People are still living outside their houses. In this time of crisis, churches and

organizations have been reached.

We, a group of pastors, went to the massively devastated regions on April 9 to bring hope and relief. We heard that many rural villages are left without help. Please be with us in prayers and support. Your support can make a life-changing difference in their lives.

Additionally, please pray for the Holy Spirit's empowerment as I lead a three-day discipleship training from April 14 to 16 during the Water Festival holidays.

Thank you so much for your prayers and support. May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Grace and Peace,

Classes

  • Pastor S visited one class and met with two teachers. Classes are doing well, and students are very blessed by the material.
  • I communicated with four teachers in southern Myanmar. They testified that the training has helped them in their ministry services. They praise the Lord.
  • I teach Book 5 online to four students from Thailand.
  • Pastor T met with two teachers who said they were doing well and that the CCI training was helpful to their church ministry.
  • Pastor B visited a church and its training class. They are doing well at the moment, though the situation is not quite calm yet.

Staff Update

  • Pastor T: He and his family are doing well. They started working on the farm. He plans to reach remote pastors by motorbike, which will take one day of travel.
  • Pastor M: He was sick for two weeks from a stomachache and is still weak physically. One of his four daughters lives in another state for schooling. He finished building bamboo houses in a new area where they can grow seasonal plantations to support the family and the ministry.
  • Pastor Y: By His grace, he and his family are in good health in a safe town near the Chinese border. He is supervising the buildings where refugees will relocate with local leaders. We are looking for ways to send books.
  • Pastor Z: He and his family are doing well so far. His children are on holiday now. He and his wife are seeking God’s wise counsel to serve the Lord better in the current church they are involved in.
  • Pastor S: He and his family are in good health. He was in a recent motorbike accident, but God saved him from a serious injury. His wife also started working in a Christian school this month to better support the children and the ministry.
  • Pastor B: He and his family are physically healthy. He visited classes and churches for fellowship and encouragement with the Word. He plans to conduct one-day training in two villages, 15 miles from his residence. He requested to pray for his family as the gunfight draws nearer day after day.

Prayer Requests & Praises

Praise Points:

  • Pastor H, who graduated in 2019, started a training class in northwest Myanmar with 13 students. He is the assistant pastor in a Baptist church.
  • I am grateful to God for the discipleship training in Nepal, where I had the chance to share the ministry with pastors in different countries.
  • CCI-Myanmar staff members and teachers are safe from the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in the central part of Myanmar.

Prayer Points:

  • On March 28 at around 1 pm, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake hit near the second largest city in Myanmar. Thousands have lost their homes, properties, and loved ones - leaving them in pain and misery. Be with us in your prayers and support.
  • Pray that God will renew and change the hearts of the coup. The war is still going on, and civilians are faced with this heartbreaking situation. We need God’s intervention.
  • Please keep praying for my daughter's new school admission abroad. It is a great risk for us, but we totally depend on God’s guidance and provision.
