Dear IHSS Providers,



October provides new and important training opportunities. Read on for the latest news and to learn ways to connect with services to help keep you and your loved ones safe and healthy as we head into the holiday season. Please check the dates and deadlines to participate.

Timesheets 101



  • English sessions: Tuesdays Oct. 24, Nov, 7
  • Spanish sessions: Tuesdays Oct. 17, Oct. 31, Nov. 14
  • Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Location: 4245 Market St., Suite 213, in Ventura


IHSS providers can have their questions addressed related to timesheets, authorized IHSS hours and how to claim time worked via the Electronic Services Portal or the Telephone Timesheet system. Drop in anytime during the scheduled time and receive 1:1 assistance from staff.


Timesheet trainings will continue to be offered at our Ventura office weekly, every Tuesday, alternating English and Spanish every other Tuesday.


REMINDER: Do not pay a third party to help you with your IHSS timesheets! Staff is available to help you at no charge at our office locations in Ventura and Simi Valley. You are encouraged to attend one of our Timesheets 101 sessions so we can help you. If you are not able to attend a training, call our office at 805-654-3416 so we may determine how best to assist you. You can also contact the IHSS Service Desk for assistance with the Electronic Services Portal or the Telephone Timesheet systems at 866-376-7066 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All these resources are available to you!

This Spanish-language eight-hour course will teach you to respond to medical emergencies. Through lecture, videos, and hands-on activities, you will be able to respond confidently to emergency situations.


You must pre-register in advance. The class size is limited to 10 people. Names will be added to a waiting list.

How do you know when an older adult needs help? Learn some of the signs and red flags when an older adult needs some help to remain healthy and independent.

Reminder: CalSavers Retirement Savings Program


CalSavers is an optional program offered by the State of California that is available to IHSS Providers who want to save and contribute toward a retirement plan. The program is designed for all Californians and allows individuals to set up automatic contributions from their bank account into the retirement plan and choose investment options for their account.


CalSavers is administered by the State and participants may enroll by phone or online. More information is available on the flyer below or by visiting CalSavers. On the CalSavers webpage click on “Savers” to set up your account and then on “I want to sign myself up.” Contact the CalSavers Help Desk at 855-650-6918 for questions or assistance signing up.

Applying for Food, Health and Cash Support

If you or someone you know is struggling, you are encouraged to apply to the County of Ventura Human Services Agency for the following benefits:



You may apply online at vchsa.org/apply, by phone at 888-472-4463, fax at 805-658-4530, mail or drop-off services, and in person.


Remember to routinely check our Community-Based Resources page with links to basic-needs services and other free or low-cost resources.

Important Reminder: Ventura County has moved from MyBenefitsCalwin to a new system called BenefitsCal.com.

 

ALL Medi-Cal, CalFresh, CalWORKs and General Relief clients who wish to maintain access to check benefits status or renew their benefits online, report changes, and upload documents must:


1. Go to BenefitsCal.com and select “log In.”

2. Create a new account using your email address.

3. Link your account to your case.

Attention Medi-Cal Members! If your contact information or household circumstances have changed, please update your information today. This may help you keep your Medi-Cal coverage. For more details and to learn how to update your contact information, visit: vchsa.org/medi-cal.


Have Medi-Cal questions? Call a health navigator for free assistance completing any Medi-Cal forms. There is no fee for renewing your Medi-Cal benefits.
