Health and Hope Clinic Remembers John Murray!

We lost a wonderful volunteer this month-John Murray will always be in our hearts at the Health and Hope Clinic, Inc. He was a man full of honor and integrity & knew how to love people & always look for the good in everyone he met. John used his humor & wit & loved fiercely. Gone too soon, but always in our heart. Love you, John.

From those who knew John:

"We are going to miss John so much in the triathlon, swimming and fitness community - a giving, caring, genuine person who touched so many people"

"Such a beautiful human. He truly made an impact on both our patients and volunteers. so thankful for all that he taught me at the clinic."

"I’m so sad to hear this news. Can’t believe he’s gone. He was a wonderful man. My condolences to his family. Sending prayers to them."

"John was such a blessing to have at the clinic. We will miss you so incredibly much. You knew exactly what to say and how to light up a room."

"John always made me laugh! I just can’t believe he is gone. Praying for his family and friends. Such a huge loss!"

"Oh my heart… John was such a blessing to have at the clinic. We will miss you so incredibly much. You knew exactly what to say and how to light up a room. Thinking of Kelly and your family"

Our Tribute to John Murray

In John’s honor, we are dedicating Exam Room 4, where John scrubbed in for

numerous surgical procedures and treatments, as the “John Murray Treatment

Room”. We are earmarking donations mailed to the Health and Hope Clinic that

are notated “in memory of John Murray” for this dedication. Everyone is

welcome to join us. A ceremony to dedicate Exam Room 4 in John’s memory will

be happening soon, with a plaque listing all donors. This is OUR way of keeping

his spirit alive and our gratitude for the impact he had on all of us.  Stay tuned for additional details to follow in next month's newsletter.

JULY VOLUNTEER ROCKSTAR OF THE MONTH:

SIERRA MOHR--in her own words

I heard about Health and Hope Clinic through UWF’s mass email system. One of the advisors sent out a volunteer list and the clinic was on there. I did some research and found that it was the perfect place for me.

I started working at the front desk and I loved it! I come from an administrative career field so I enjoy doing that kind of work. Mostly, I enjoy interacting with patients and getting to know them and their stories. I now work as an MA where I get to interact with patients even more. I feel grateful to be a part of an incredible team that helps the community every day.

Not only have I learned the many different ways to interact with patients, but also how a medical clinic runs its day-to-day appointments. I have learned the different medical terminology required for MAs, providers, and nurses. I have also learned the ins and outs of paper charts and electronic medical records. My experiences at the clinic will definitely help me with my future career as a physician assistant.

My favorite memory is my first day as an MA seeing patients by myself for the first time. I don’t come from a medical background so the opportunity to check a patient in by myself felt amazing. It was an exciting day for me. It further solidified my passion for health care and medicine.

I love interacting with different medical providers, nurses, pharmacy personnel, and other MAs. I enjoy getting to know my peers and learning from them and their experiences as medical personnel. Most of all, it is fun working together to take care of our patient’s needs.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé, Cody, and my pup, Bear. Together, we love fishing, shooting guns, and going to the gym. I have a passion for bodybuilding and powerlifting.

Meet our new Dental Facilitator, Chris Stevens!

Chris has volunteered as a dental assistant for over a year at the clinic & got his training in dental while serving in the Navy! Chris will now be taking on a new leadership role as our Dental Coordinator at the clinic!
