Dear Residents -
Thank you to everyone who showed up on Saturday, despite the dreary weather, to check out the Pearl River Farmers Market. It was nice to see so many familiar faces and to hear such positive remarks. The vendors were very happy with the turnout and are looking forward to being there again tomorrow, rain or shine, from 10 am to 2 pm. And, if you want to get pickles without waiting on a long line, be sure to get there early!
With fall officially upon us, it is time for Halloween decorations, corn mazes, apple picking, pumpkin everything, football, and so much more, starting with the Orangetown Parks and Recreation fall programs. They are filling up fast, so click on this link to see what interests you and sign up today.
And, this time of year, the Orangetown Highway Department is in full swing, finishing up the green waste removal and gearing up for the fall leaf pickup program. The leaf portal will be open soon, so keep an eye out for it so you have an idea when the vacuum trucks will be coming through your neighborhood.
There are many fun events going on in Orangetown this October. On October 14, 2023, there is the 16th Annual Pearl River Day from 11 am to 6 pm on Central Avenue. There will be live entertainment, kids’ activities, arts & crafts and more. Then on October 21, 2023, there is Oktoberfest in Piermont, featuring authentic German food and beer, live music and kids’ activities. On the same day, the Tappan Reformed Church will host their Fall Fling, with hayrides, pumpkin painting, food trucks and more. They all look to be a great time so be sure to mark your calendars.
And, on the spookier side, the Orangetown Museum and Orangeburg Library are hosting a Halloween party at the DePew House on Sunday, October 29, 2023. Costumes are appreciated, but not mandatory. There will be spooky snacks and children’s crafts available – so show up if you dare! Register here or call the Orangeburg Library at (845) 359-2244 for more information.
Please note that Town Hall will be closed on Monday, October 9, 2023, for the federal holiday. Enjoy your long weekend and stay dry (yes, sadly more rain is expected).
Regards,
