The Harvard Square Business Association is pleased to announce the return of the 43rd Annual Oktoberfest and slightly irrepressible and fabulously madcap 15th Annual HONK! Parade on Sunday, October 9th, 2022. Come be a part of this unique, irreverent and family friendly annual tradition where musicians and spectators “reclaim the streets for horns, bikes and feet”!

Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest features food from all over the world, arts, crafts, vintage goods, free samples, sidewalk sales and one-of-a-kind gifts. This annual celebration of fall features live music, including a Passim stage and an all HONK! Review on the main stage! Dancing in the streets is encouraged!

One of the highlights of the festival is the HONK! Parade which arrives in the Square at approximately 1pm. In its 14th year, the HONK! movement has become a global phenomenon. This year, more than 25 HONK! bands from around the country will march from Davis Square to Harvard Square. Spectators will be treated to a horn-tooting, hand-clapping, foot-stomping, mind-blowing spectacle and are welcomed to join the back of the parade and make their way to Oktoberfest!

Come be a part of a legendary tradition – it will be wunderbar to see you again!
Please join us in welcoming our new members!

One of Boston’s beloved fall traditions, is back in 2022 to celebrate the autumnal equinox on the banks of the Charles River. Hosted by Revels Music Director Elijah Botkin, this year’s RiverSing will be filled with singalongs to classics old and new, such as “Bridge Over Troubled Water,” “Rowing Down the River,” and “Take Time in Life.” The program features the return of Revels fan favorite Carolyn Saxon (The Christmas Revels 2019 - 2021) as a featured songleader alongside Revels Artist-in-Residence David Coffin. Also returning from The Christmas Revels 2021 is Edmar Colón, who will be leading songs and playing the piano from the RiverSing stage. Rounding out the roster are special guests from the Boston City Singers youth choirs. HEART TO HEART: THE EXQUISITE MACHINE
The human heart is a miraculous organ, a marvel of construction unsurpassed by any human made creation with its resilience and precision. It beats 100,000 times a day so that if you live 100 years, that would be more than 3 billion beats in a lifetime.
In our forum, Sian Harding will explore the latest scientific developments and mysteries of the heart. Professor Harding, a world leader in cardiac research at Imperial College in London, is author of The Exquisite Machine: The New Science of the Heart. The book explains the latest cardiac discoveries as well as the relationship between the emotions and heart function. In addition to being a powerful pump, the heart is super-sensitive – not just in responding to emotions but in creating them. And yes, you can die of “broken heart syndrome” – although there are profound differences between men and women. There is also a much deeper connection between the heart and the brain than was previously understood.
