Fall greetings from the Backshop!
The easy stuff is done and the new website is live!
I am sending this announcement for many reasons.
First, the site is functional and secure but there is still a lot of content to build out which just takes time. As a friendly reminder... I have checked and edited, edited and checked but there are some errors. I know the advanced filters are a work-in-progress, you're gonna love the additional resources tab when I finish it, and there are a lot of blank pages that need my time to build out.
I have placed a link to a convenient feedback form on the top navigation menu if you are compelled to share comments about your experience or issues you find along the way. Email works well too..
Please note, the web address for the entire site is now www.sbs4dcc.com. The old url for the store, www.store.sbs4dcc.com, was a mistake I made in 2010 and I have found a way to manage that going forward until it fades off into the sunset. The old website, and specifically, the original Tutorials, Tips & Tricks are now accessed from the web address dcctips.com. I wish this could have been cleaner but the story is long and uninteresting and it fixes my early mistakes.
Second, I have been able to transfer most of the data for registered customers to the new site so you will have an account under the previously registered email address. YOU WILL NEED TO RESET YOUR PASSWORD. Its best to text or email if you need help.
You will not get an email... my bad... so just use the Forgot your password? link on the ACCOUNT LOGIN PAGE. Sorry, I cannot carry information like sales history and saved shopping carts forward so we have to start over. I will have access to the information if you need it.
From what I can see about the new user account and checkout experience... it's worth it. Our International clients are already responding with very positive experiences. Thank you for your patience and patronage while I have worked to sort out the issues with shipping we have experienced this year.
Third, and most important I think, I am very pleased to tell you about a major overhaul to the backend shipping processor that is a big win for You. When I started this process in January, international processing had stopped working on the site. By the end of October, I was appalled by the rates that were being charged for domestic orders and the cost I was incurring to get those little white boxes out to you. Frankly, I was very close to modifying or even terminating the Free Shipping offer.
I work hard to offer you an exceptional experience, a compelling product, and superior service, all at a great price. I am extremely pleased to tell you that not only are the general shipping issues resolved, the Free Shipping offer is saved from inflation or termination and, from what I can see, we are now offering more shipping service options at a lower cost. That's just another way We add value.
I hope you will enjoy this exceptional virtual shopping experience!
Chief Backshop Installer Steven Fields is hard at work creating custom DCC experiences in models from Z to G scale. He is ready to quote your next maintenance, repair or decoder installation. Shoot us an email to discuss your next project.
As a reminder, the SBS4DCC website features Real-Time Stock Status. Please remember that orders for out-of-stock products will be delayed and restock information will be limited. The shipping status notice applies to in-stock product only. As a reminder, you can place a SBS4DCC No-Obligation Backorder to reserve stock and avoid the need to search constantly hoping to catch one on the shelf.
Be sure to check out the Tutorials, Tips and Tricks section of the website. I continue to add volumes of information about different subjects I think you might find valuable.
I am frequently asked for help and information about the manufacturers warranty when a project doesn't work out the way we expected. CLICK HERE to access the Consolidated DCC Manufacturers Warranty Information page. Of course this information is subject to change and the manufacturers information is always the primary resource.
And finally... Model Railroad Operations are a blast and are a great way to get engaged in this great hobby. Operating sessions are surely limited these days so you can use this time to enjoy the OpSIG Publications - A Compendium Of Model Railroad Operations - From Design To Implementation and get to work developing your own operating sessions. You can find out more by visiting the OpSIG webite or by contacting your local NMRA chapter as well.
Stop Running Trains. Start Model Railroading!
