Sept. 6
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the Garland City Council Regular Meeting and Work Session will be combined Tuesday, Sept. 6, at City Hall, 200 N. Fifth St. Work Session will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Regular Meeting will begin at 7 p.m.

Garland Community Mental Health Fair
Sept. 10
Join The Garland Public Health Department at the second annual Garland Community Mental Health Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at 618 Clara Barton Blvd. Get access to free mental health screenings and crisis planning, mental health and substance use information and resources, demonstrations, COVID vaccines and flu shots, and more! The fair is free but participants are asked to reserve their spots. Register now.
Garland Cultural Arts Commission 2022-23 Grant
Sept. 16
The Garland Cultural Arts Commission announces its 2022-23 Grant Program for local arts groups, historic preservation organizations and other artistic entities. Applications will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays through Sept. 15 at the Granville Arts Center Box Office, 300 N. Fifth St. Completed applications are due no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at the Granville Arts Center. Interviews will take place Thursday, Sept. 22, at the Granville Arts Center. Grant money will not be awarded to any group failing to submit the completed application by the deadline. For more information, call 972-205-2780.
Neighborhood Vitality Matching Grant Applications
Sept. 23
The Neighborhood Vitality Matching Grant program enables registered neighborhood groups, both voluntary and mandatory, to apply for matching funds for physical enhancement projects in publicly accessible spaces. These projects encourage neighbors to work together to create projects unique to their neighborhood while boosting a sense of pride and ownership. Applications are due Friday, Sept. 23. Letter of Intent forms, applications and guidelines can be downloaded at GarlandNeighborhoods.org.
Jynneos Vaccine for Monkeypox
Vaccination is for prevention of monkeypox only. People with confirmed cases of monkeypox or symptoms of monkeypox are not eligible to receive the vaccine. Vaccine remains in low supply and can currently only be offered to people who meet one of the criteria listed online. If you suspect you are at high risk, you may call 972-205-3370. More information on the vaccines used to protect against monkeypox virus can be found on the CDC website.
