Audubon Winter Bird Count Returns

Sunday, December 17, 8 am - 1 pm

On Sunday the Cedar Lake Park Association (CLPA) will participate in the Audubon Society’s 2023 Winter Bird Count, along with the Urban Bird Collective, the Loppet Foundation, and the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. For the second year, these organizations are working together to coordinate this count on behalf of this community and its amazing and diverse collection of birds!

This year’s count has been scheduled from 8am to 1pm. Afterwards, there will be an optional potluck and sightings sharing session from 1-2pm at the Trailhead, 1221 Theodore Wirth Parkway.

To learn more about the Winter Bird Count and its history, you can visit audubon.org. Please contact Mark Schmidt for more local information and to sign up to participate with the CLPA.

New Neighborhood Signs

We are thrilled to have our new Welcome to Cedar Isles Dean signs up around the neighborhood!

Thank you to board member Tim Sheridan for the photos.

City Updates

One of the City’s goals in the Climate Equity Plan is to increase the use of solar in our communities. Since 2017, more than 1,700 homes have gone solar in Minneapolis. The City hopes to increase that number to 15,000 by 2032.

To help community members explore solar options and compare companies, we’ve partnered with EnergySage to make the process easier for homeowners looking to make the move to solar.

Cedar Isles Dean bus riders can now travel down Lake Street or to St. Paul without having to transfer in Uptown.

Effective December 2, the western end of Metro Transit bus route 21 was extended to Lake Street and France Avenue South, including intermediate stops at Dean Parkway, and others.

For more information, including fares and schedules, visit metrotransit.org/route/21
