Message from the Chair
Dear Members and Partners,
With the Covid-19 pandemic now formally over, and as we adjust to life in a post-Covid world, the IAMRA Board and Secretariat have been very busy strengthening our services and creating more opportunities to connect with one another through networking and sharing of best practice.
Over the past six months, our main priority has been developing the IAMRA 2023 Conference to be held in in Bali, Indonesia November 6-9. This year’s Conference is titled Regulation in a disrupted world: challenges and opportunities and is the first time the IAMRA community will have assembled in person in over five years.
We are particularly pleased to announce the following keynote speakers: Professors Euan Ashley, Marie Bismark, Dr. Rachelle Love and Dr. Anna Van Der Gaag. Further information can be found at the Conference website, including the preliminary speaker's program, event highlights and tour program. We encourage you all to consider registering to attend this exciting and important event on the IAMRA calendar via the website.
Professor Euan Ashley, Associate Dean, Roger and Joelle Burnell Professor in Genomics and Precision Health, Stanford University, USA..
Professor Marie Bismark, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne, Australia, Public Health Physician, Lawyer, and Company Director.
Dr Rachelle Love is of Ngāpuhi and Te Arawa descent. She is an Otolaryngologist, Head and Neck Surgeon in Ōtautahi Christchurch, New Zealand. She was appointed to the Medical Council of New Zealand by the Minister of Health.
Dr Anna van der Gaag CBE is Visiting Professor of Ethics and Regulation at the
University of Surrey, one of the UK’s highest ranking universities for health services teaching and research. She was Chair of the UK’s Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a multi professional regulator of 15 professions, for nine years.
Following our very successful webinar in April on the role of medical regulating authorities and climate change, we are also planning our webinar series for the remainder of this year. Information on the next webinar will be posted soon on the IAMRA website, emails and also on the new IAMRA LinkedIn company page. We encourage you to follow this site for regular posts and other updates on our activities.
The IAMRA Board and Secretariat met in Los Angeles, California on May 18-19 for our annual strategic planning meeting . A key focus for our discussions was on the feedback we received from the annual member and partner survey on IAMRA's performance over the past 12 months across a number of areas. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank all of you who took the time to provide responses to this survey. This feedback has been very valuable in guiding the Board’s development of a new IAMRA Strategic Plan 2023-2026. We hope to release a draft version of this Plan for consultation with all members and partners over the next few months. Please look out for the opportunity to have your say on this important document that will guide IAMRA's future development over the next few years.
