Please consider donating to the Little Free Pantries run by Julie Laut (Urbana) and AJ Herzog (Champaign), which they have maintained year-round since March 2020. Their Amazon wish list has been updated to include unique summer items. The wishlist can be sorted to identify high priority items. All orders sent through Amazon are delivered to Julie's house and split between the two pantries. You are also welcome to drop off items in person at both locations. Questions? Contact Julie (jlaut@hushmail.com) or AJ (zogs92@gmail.com).

From Anonymous: This week I signed the divorce papers; after 16 years of marriage my person decided to be unencumbered by a relationship and become a free spirit.
From Malcolm Byrd: Joy - Plan is working out after staying in Champaign-Urbana, going to Chicago to work. Sorrow - Estranged from siblings, war in Ukraine
From Natalie Danner: A joy for Water Day today after services. Let's play and have fun!
From Rev. Sally Fritsche: My 7 year old niece is in the hospital with an unexplained high fever - send your healing thoughts to Denver
From Wendy Graves: I am enjoying the view from a mountain side at 8,000ft where we are visiting our son and daughter in-law outside of Morrison Colorado. We spoke with people in Kansas experiencing a devastating drought along our route. I pray we choose to embrace and honor this truly wonderful planet.

SOCIAL ACTION OFFERING FOR JULY 2022
|
|
The Brennan Center for Justice is our shared offering organization for July. They are working to create a USA that is democratic, just, and free. Today we are in a great fight for the future of democracy in our country.
The Brennan Center is:
- A think tank --rigorously researching important issues and finding transformative solutions
- An advocacy group – working with elected officials and fighting in court for change
- A communications hub – getting the message out to help create a well-informed public
Some of the key issues they are working on now are
- Voting rights – working to get Congress to pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, and to block states from enacting oppressive voting laws
- Gun control – working to enact tighter gun controls, and to change the Constitution with the times
- Reproductive rights – now that we have lost the federal protection of Roe Vs Wade, states will have to fight much harder for these essential rights
- Reforming our systemically racist justice system and ending mass incarceration
- Reforming money in politics – working to end Citizens United – because Corporations are not people, and money is not free speech
- Rethinking and reforming policing and public safety in our communities
Many of us share these concerns, and it is gratifying to know that we have the expertise of the Brennan Center for Justice working toward the same goals. They deserve our support.
