Putting Faith Into Action

As Unitarian Universalists and as a congregation, we affirm the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We put this into practice by meeting our unhoused neighbors and those who are different from ourselves face to face.

UUCGT is still greatly looking for volunteers for our shift at Safe Harbor this year. Please consider getting involved and serving those who are most at the margins in our wider community.

SIGN UP HERE TO VOLUNTEER!

What's Involved?

Rich Faller, Betsy Wacker, and Katie Grier are hosting a few Q&A sessions following the Sunday Services on Oct. 9th and Oct. 16th over Zoom. You're welcome to attend and bring any questions at this linkhttps://us02web.zoom.us/j/87337534390?pwd=TzhlYkF1VXpvMkF0T2w3MEoxMmVodz09.

Can't make the Q&A sessions? See this video for a recording of a prior presentation on Safe Harbor: https://youtu.be/-UN0yfmQ08E.

Safe Harbor Open House

There’s an open house this Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Safe Harbor, 517 Wellington St. This open house will start at 10:00 AM and last until 1:00 PM. Just show up and see the changes to the interior layout. You can tour the yurt outside as well which will be used for social purposes. This will be of particular benefit to those who are volunteering. Everyone is welcome!

Donate to Safe Harbor

We need donations of kitchen supplies and snacks to support our effort at safe harbor as well. Drop off for the food donations from October 23rd to November 3rd in the church vestibule. Here is the our website where you can indicate your donation:

National Women's March Day of Action: GET OUT THE VOTE!

The Workshop Brewing Company

November elections are quickly approaching. Join us as we March through downtown TC and make our voices heard! Each and every one of us needs to make sure to vote, and that every friend, and family member, does the same. Whatever it takes.

Our rights are on the line like never before, and we need to make it clear: We will NOT go back. VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!! Whatever is most important to you: bring a sign and your voice. WE ESPECIALLY WELCOME FIRST-TIME AND YOUNGER VOTERS TO JOIN US! This is YOUR time to make a huge difference in your future!

Gather at Workshop - enjoy a beer and lunch, and thank them for all their good work and support! We will begin our march through downtown TC at 1:00pm this Saturday, October 8th.

Please click the link below for the plan and our expectations:

Expectations:

-STAY ON THE SIDEWALKS AND OBEY TRAFFIC LIGHTS FLOW

-MAKE ROOM FOR PEDESTRIANS

-DO NOT BLOCK DOWNTOWN BUSINESSES

-BE RESPECTFUL AND PEACEFUL

-AND FINALLY: DO NOT ENGAGE WITH COUNTER-PROTESTERS!

-IF YOU SEE A TC POLICE OFFICER, SAY "THANK YOU". THEY ARE THERE TO SUPPORT US AND KEEP EVERYONE SAFE

Our route downtown:

Garland to Union. Union to the light at W. Front. Cross on Front Street, staying on the North sidewalk to Park Street. Cross Front Street and Park to the South side of Front and reverse back until we get to the Parkway. We will then cross the Parkway to the OPEN SPACE where we will hear from local candidates, including Betsy Coffia and Dr. Bob Lorinser, among others, running for office to protect and preserve all of our rights. PLEASE MAKE DONATIONS IF YOU CAN! After speakers, you are welcome back to the Workshop for conversations and networking.  Let's do this!

UUCGT BULLETIN BOARD

Soul Matters / Creativity Matters 2022-23

Wondering about our Creativity Matters group?

Creativity Matters is new to UUCGT this year and explores the same monthly themes as Soul Matters but through creative expression in the form of a creative journal and project prompts.

Choose movement, writing, art, collage, film/photography, music, fiber arts, or whatever modality speaks to you.

Participants share stories about their experiences engaging each theme’s questions and projects with their group using the same deep and disciplined listening process as the regular Soul Matters group.

Although Soul Matters / Creativity Matters groups are starting to get underway, there is still plenty of time for you to join one!

See the Thursday 9/8 email from UUCGT for more information about the nature and purpose of our Soul Matters / Creativity Matters groups (as well as links to copies of the Participant guide and the Soul Matters and Creativity packets on our September theme of Belonging).
