January 15, 2024 …. ............. Keeping Fondren Fabulous

Fondren embraces Fondren Forward

…..More than 100 people provided feedback on a wide range of topics from Fondren’s culture to mobility and open space at the first Fondren Forward community meeting which was billed as a Listening Workshop.

…..Results from that feedback is being categorized and documented this week, and will be shared with the community in the coming weeks.

…..The community meeting capped the end of our consulting team’s week-long visit to Fondren where they conducted 15 diverse conversations with key individuals and organizations crucial to informing Fondren Forward. The team toured Fondren, UMMC and surrounding neighborhoods.

…..”Engaging with leaders from UMMC, area developers, elected officials, and the City of Jackson’s Planning Department, our objective was to comprehensively explore the complex issues and opportunities within Fondren from various perspectives,” said Team Leader Blake Reeves, a Jackson native who now lives in Atlanta and works for the urban planning organization, City Collective.

…..”The community’s positive and active participation in the various forums has been incredibly encouraging,” Blake continued. “Nearly all the feedback received during these conversations has been positive, leaving us with great hope for Fondren’s future."

…..The next Community Meeting, to be held at the Fondren Church Gym, is scheduled for March 21, 6:30 p.m..
